Lancaster Silk 0 Posted August 17, 2007 I'm getting the same type of problem too after upgrading to 1.08. I'm not sure if its the patch or just my hardware, instead of just straight crashing before I crash I usually get these weird graphical spikes, basically they come from this object and looking at that object causes these "spikes" to take up your screen, I've had these happen with things from a hmmv, to another guy, to the mp5 in my hand, which rendered first person mode impossible. After that goes around for a few minute than it crashes. Never experienced any of this before in the previous patches
kridian 33 Posted August 17, 2007 So I take it this new 'Hotfix 1.08' doesn't address this issue? Damn, it's the only thing really pissing me off about Arma.
ArMoGaDoN 0 Posted September 7, 2007 Am using SMALL aperture/PEG buffer length to reduce on-screen stutters, so perhaps this contribuiting: BUT.. until I started playing in the registry with cache sizes etc., NO problems occurred. Now I can reliably CAUSE the IndexBufferFailed message with 2 registry changes... I run 2 Gig mem, ATI card, latest drivers et al. In an attempt to get my machine to enlarge the cache and thus hopefully reduce the stutter even further... I changed PagedPoolSize to 0xb71b000 (192000000) from 0 and LargeSystemCache to 0x1 from 0 Now this causes ArmA to make the IndexBufferFailed message. Changed those registry settings back to 0 and 0 respectively and the message stopped happening - even with the PEG buffer length set to small/short. This information might be useful to somebody, so posting it anyway.

KAOSInc 0 Posted September 8, 2007 You Got my problum you need to Update youre Chipset Drivers and delete C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch then delete that arma.cfg file again so teh game can Reditect youre Hardware. Not sure if it is a Nvidia 7.5 bug Sorry...don't know how to Edit my last post by quoting someone..... Anyway, thank you CodeSkyWolf You solved my problem...I was getting frustrated by lowering my specs to Low and still getting the crash to desktop. By deleting this file, I now have not had a CTD for 3 hours now instead of 20mins and all settings on High again!
Dwarden 1125 Posted September 8, 2007 erasing Windows Prefetch folder is useless step as it updates any info auto thus it dont matter if bla.exe is in location A or B ... in fact erase destroys all stored info about most often running applications ... alanB 0 Posted September 11, 2007 all my systems had the same issue Just turning off shadows solved the problem Thanks, my desktop CTD'd all the time, the mission Blood, Sweat & Tears was guaranteed to CTD within seconds of the intro cut scene starting. Now CTD's have stopped, although I've not had time to play for more than 10 mins so far so I've got my fingers crossed.
KAOSInc 0 Posted September 14, 2007 Unfortunately...after starting my computer again...the CTD's came back! After more reading more on this forum, this thread has let me play without a CTD even after startup.
