house_Fly 0 Posted May 13, 2007 I just bought the Creative Labs sound blaster Fatality X-FI Xtreme Gamer professional series from COMPUSA. I'm having some issues with the sound. I have installed the patch for the Direct AL support. Whenever I play I set the mode to gaming mode. In the audio options for AMRA the game sounds fine with EAX enable but with the hadware disabled. When ever i enable the hardware it becomes staticy and it will have a high frequency durring menus. Does anyone know a fix or something that im doing wrong. Even in the entertainment settings i get feedback and static. I'm using headphones for the input. I am using a plantronics audio .350 * i have also tried running 2:1 speakers and i have the logictek x-230 (*EDIT) Sorry i meant to post this is trobleshooting. -Puma- 2 Posted May 13, 2007 the audio menu in-game is something that u don't want to mess with, dunno if its fixed in patch, but I got all kinda errors when playing with audio settings, so finally i unistalled all a sound drivers, along with reinstall arma, went into audio menu, and clicked enable EAX, and have never ever touched it again lol. Maddmatt 1 Posted May 13, 2007 When playing music, like from Winamp in Entertainment mode, does it also sound messed up? Make sure you have the latest drivers, for both your soundcard and motherboard. Also get the latest motherboard BIOS. Some motherboards have had issues with the X-Fi, updating drivers and BIOS can help. I use an X-FI Extreme Music and ArmA runs fine with HW acceleration and EAX. sailindawg 0 Posted May 13, 2007 @ OP, I have an XFI Extreme Music and it works great in ARMA. Upgrade your Creative drivers to the newest drivers off their site, then update OpenAL with this OpenAL driver update. This should solve any audio issue that you are having. I updated all and the audio in ARMA is fine. I have both sound options ticked in the ARMA audio control panel and the audio is fine. Use the FDF sound mod and ARMA makes you feel like you are in a real fire fight. PS. I am using WinXP. If you are using Vista, then this fix may not hold, but I don't see why updating drivers and OpenAL driver in Vista should not work.

Cruusher_AS 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I installed that very same card in the new tower I just finished. When booting up windows XP, Sounds are scratchy. I have to re-boot again- then it seems to repair itself. But I am still working on the problem...
4 IN 1 0 Posted May 14, 2007 have you tried all the ways of debug like replug HW, reinstall driver, reinstall game an such?
Cruusher_AS 0 Posted May 14, 2007 After I reboot, it clears itself somehow. I can load up ARMA or GR with no problems. Need to check my driver dates then proceed from there. Haven't had time to troubleshoot this new system lately, been working long hours and such. Most certainly will post when I find the solution.
