HOLY SHIT!

If I'm not mistaken there is a SAW in that picture too. Either that or I'm too damn tired.

It is indeed an M249 SAW.

Also, the following are on the screenshots:

CH-53E Sea Stallion

LAV-25

AAV-7A1

LHD-1 Tarawa Class Assault Ship

UH-1N Huey

AH-1W Sea Cobra

And if VBS1 (the USMC's OFP) is any indication, we may see the following too:

AAAV

V-22 Osprey

And if we're going to have Indonesians to fight (East Timor was very reluctantly given up by Indonesia), we may also see the following:

PT-76 amphibious tanks

A-4 Skyhawks

F-16 Falcons

various armored cars (mostly British Humbers and Soviet BTR-40s)

Saladin armored cars

But is it only set in East Timor?

The newspaper says US pulls OUT of E.T. for Gulf Operation. It also has a headline about Australian involvement in peace keeping. So which force(s) does the game cover? US in Gulf or Aussies in Timor?

I do remember one interview saying it would feature Australian units ( since it was developed by the Australian studios ) but does anybody know for sure yet? It might be nice to have both.

It's not Sea hawk it's CH-46E Sea knight. It's smaller than the chinook, indeed.

Navy is using it.

Sea knight:

Seahawk is like blackhawk. Not the same:

And if I'm not mistaken we will also get a Tiger Eurocopter (HAC?) Here's a pic:

eurotiger3d.gif

And the M-249 Minimi SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon)

Here's a pic of that baby:

As for the Sea Stallion, we can get three versions, the CH-53 Sea Stallion, the MH-53E Sea Dragon or the MH-53J Pave Low III.

Here's a pic of the CH-53 Sea Stallion:

Here's a pic of the MH-53E Sea Dragon:

And here's a pic of the MH-53J Pave Low III:

It's the Pave Low III. With mid-seats installed it can carry 53 passengers, without it can carry 37 passengers.

The MH-53E Sea Dragon is the biggest Western helicopter to date.

quote from fas-org:

"The newest military version of Sikorsky's H-53E/S80 series, the MH-53E Sea Dragon, is the Western world's largest helicopter. The MH-53E is used primarily for Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM), with a secondary mission of shipboard delivery. Additional mission capabilities include air-to-air refueling, hover in-flight refueling, search and rescue, and external cargo transport operations, in both land and seaborne environments. The MH-53E was derived from the CH-53E Super Stallion and is heavier and has a greater fuel capacity than its ancestor. The MH-53s can operate from carriers and other warships. Sea Dragon is capable of carrying up to 55 troops or a 16-ton payload 50 nautical miles or a 10-ton payload 500 nautical miles. The MH-53E is capable of towing a variety of mine-sweeping countermeasures systems, including the Mk 105 minesweeping sleed, the ASQ-14 side-scan sonar, and the Mk 103 mechanical minesweeping system."

Man, I hope we get that MH-53E Sea Dragon! But it looks like we'll just get the normal CH-53 Sea Stallion confused.gif.

I remeber reading somewhere that this aint the public VBS 1 and if it was there would be no way we would have an osprey in there due to the fact the military are still testing it.

I'd like to see an MV-22 it would be pretty cool to fly since its tilt rotor. I It would suck if IL was a seperate game, I'd like to use all units from OFP and IL in a mission editor.

This confuses me also, as the East Timor incedent was handled almost entirely by Australia, but Australia doesn't have all those vehicles shown on the IL web page. I think that they must be trading realism and historic accuracy for more weapons, vehicles, units.

I'm not complaining though. I really wanna see more vehicles in ofp.

Also, I doubt that IL is going to be a seperate production. That would be stupid and illogical. It is being made by a division of BIS. It is using the same engine and ideas. Why would they release it as a seperate game.

I thought I read somewhere that in this "what-if" campaign that the ADF an NZ forces call in the USMC, after a fictional escalation.
