-SWAF-Lunatic 0 Posted May 9, 2007 This is not an ArmA issue, but a creative/microshaft issue. creative are attempting to get true EAX back with ALchemy a programe that converts D3D sounds to Open AL, it is reported on the ALchemy website that it works for ArmA, but is unconfirmed. Does ArmA use D3D or is it OpenAL from the start?

Maddmatt 1 Posted May 9, 2007 ArmA uses OpenAL already, no need for ALchemy.
Dwarden 1125 Posted May 9, 2007 DirectSound3D layer was removed from Vista all it does it translate both DS3D & DS3D with EAX into OpenAl as result users of X-fi gets hardware accelerated sound for old (non openal) titles ... ArmA is new title with OpenAl support from start so there is no need for Alchemy support at all ... OFP maybe different story ... MODedit: closing as answered ...
