StormbringerGT 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Hey I just got this game the other day and I have not been able to play it since. The install went fine, the patch went fine, but playing it hasnt. First of all I can turn almost everything on its highest and play the game smoothly. Thats not an issue. What I do have a problem with is actually playing. I cannot load the first mission in campaign I watch the mission, then the ingame enigine shows a town, with someone walking, then the rock music cues and it says something about a convoy moving troops and thats it, it will sit like that forever, rock music playing and the black screen about a convoy.' Sometimes the textures dont fill in right, like when I walk up to someone, they use a mesh and texture that they might use if they were far away, but when I get close sometimes it stays like that, all blocky. Also, sometimes the screen blinks and flickers. Sometimes it goes all bright and then calms back down to normal brightness, like an explosion went off nearby. Also when doing a mission, the one where you fly that plane in a major offensive, the planes render fine from far away. However when up close the meshes go crazy and the pilot looks like he is sitting in a jumble. With crazy angles, popping out all over the place. It does not resemble a jet at all. There are a few other little things, but those just stop me from playing. I understand there is not much you can do about it right now, but I hope that by voicing my issues that can help with fixing it in future patches. Please if you need any info contact me, also if anyone else has similar problems they should post here. Here are my system specs I am running: Windows Vista Ultimate Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 2.40 Ghz EVGA nForce 680i Motherboard Patriot 4GB DDR2 6400 800Mhz (4 1GB Modules) EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTX 768MB (SLI) EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTX 768MB (SLI) Maxtor 500GB Serial ATA 7200 16MB Buffer (RAID ARRAY 0) Maxtor 500GB Serial ATA 7200 16MB Buffer (RAID ARRAY 0) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Cooler Master 850W Real Power Pro Thanks for reading my post, please let me know if you have any advice or fixes! 4 IN 1 0 Posted May 9, 2007 most of the nV cards have this problem, may i ask what version of the game you have? edit: also try to disable SLI to see if the problem still there
StormbringerGT 0 Posted May 9, 2007 Okay I ll try to disable my SLI and see what happens. As far as game version I believe its 1.06. I will try to find info on the LOD bug. I will also tweak around my system see what pops up. I havent had the framrate issue other people have. Everything is on high or highest except view distance thats at about 8000 and anti aa is on low. I just tried to load the game and started the mission again where you fly that plane and when it started to load cutscene it crashed to desktop with this error: Cannot create system memory surface DXT5,2048x2048 (size 5592416 B) Error code 8007000e Hopefully a Dev can see this and make use of it. AiRec1 0 Posted May 10, 2007 You will not he is running XP, Vista drivers = 158.18 To be honest, my rig has a 1.86 C2D @ 2.66, with 8800GTS 320Mb, at 1280 x 1024 The optimum settings tested with ArmA mark(vista) were Normal for most settings, Low PP/AF, High Shadow/AA/Blood, view distance 2000m, this gave me a ArmA mark of 1954.81, when tested on my XP I was able to run things on high mostly and get a similar result. ArmA is a graphics hog, so don't expect to it to run at the settings your trying with everything cranked up, the beta which I tested does show improved FPS, so most people will hopefully get performace with 1.
