jaxx 0 Posted February 12, 2002 This forum is for: (about wars, military conflicts and everything what pertinent to Army) Yet, SPAM lives on and hardly anyone discusses these things. If they do, they still get closed sometimes. There was a time when this forum was actually worth visiting several times a day for interesting war & military discussions, but now it's all spam, porno and other crap. For example: Favorite Music to Play by Sexiest woman ever modem woes how to make friends with girls best spammer threads silly thread about norweigans business coursework ...etc... There are only four threads related to the forum definition on the first page. Either AndOne, Armourdave, DnA, Hilandor, OFteam, placebo, Sith, Snake1999 need to be more serious or they should change the definition of this forum. *shakes head*
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted February 12, 2002 I beg your pardon, but where do you suggest should people put "off-topic" subjects then instead? True, off-topic is primarily for military discussions etc., but since only a very small handful of people actually are grunts&co., this forum would go very boring very quickly. Besides, your complain isn't exactly related to anything military either, is it!? I would like to tell you something nasty now, but  I don't want to get banned, so consider your karma laden with insults now PS: just saw ur quote. Now I definitely HATE YOU!!! THat guy almost ruined my school career by writing a shitload full of bollox!!!!!!!
jaxx 0 Posted February 12, 2002 Why are you bashing ME? I'm just saying that if it's NOT only about military, etc, then change it.

Charlie_McSheenie 1 Posted February 12, 2002 Whats remotely wrong with asking a serious question about business coursework? If it was all about military what would it be about: Thread Title: ''T-80/F-22/abrams/rapier (whatever) is f***ing amazing!!'' Post: Stats, Stats, Stats Something about NATO tanks sucking ass a smilie Replies: Russians and minorities agreeing yanks, brits, norwegians, finnihs whatever disagreeing result : spam war/insulting of country x's history/past/tanks/military/defense budget general flaming thats just one example. ''Pointless threads'' bring the opf community together and usually aren't full of flaming. Spam maybe but who cares about spam?

nordin dk 0 Posted February 12, 2002 Let's focus on the main point here!! The changing of the definition of the off-topic forum. I agree with Jaxx. The definition is to narrow. What's depressing on this part of the Forum is not the "spam" threads but the constant country-wars and bickering about who can create the most efficient killing-machines. That is depressing. P.S. And I think Huxley is wrong

Blink Dog 0 Posted February 13, 2002 Okay first of all think of the off topic form as a bunch of military personel in the field killing a little bit of spare time. What do soldiers in the field talk about? Hmm lets see: Sexy chix beers drinking stories sexually depraved things that they have done and very rarely (and I mean rarely) military hardware I think that a new section should be put up, Military issues, keep off topic for us goofs who need to vent our insanity on the world. Fine. There are also rules outside this forum and I suppose you brake them as everyone else does. It's a minor criminal offense to walk in the middle of the road. Yet i do this every now and then. Why bother as long as it doesn't hurt anyone? Besides, there is no "small talk section" in this forum, and the mods have to place the topics that dont belong in the other sections some place. I guess a "small talk" forum would help though. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"> If I to be "broad minded" as you seem to suggest, then maybe I should post this in the "troubleshooting" forum, perhaps? <span id='postcolor'> Smartass
jaxx 0 Posted February 13, 2002 LOL bgnorway - looks like we agree after all. I also offer that yes, we shouldn't be so strict, but since moderators are being strict, they seem be doing so selectively, i.e. closing threads THEY don't like, while leaving others alone. Banning people that they don't like for things that others they leave alone do. I say let's do it right or not at all. If you tolerate one spam, why condemn another. This is the problem. There are two solutions: change forum definition or change moderators. I don't think the moderators will change. *steps down from moral high ground*
