Freeze now and then what could it be??

This has just started to happen. I am playing the game and all of a sudden the game freezes momentarilly, and starts again with jerky movement of my player. This lasts about 5 seconds in all, but its become annoying.

My first thoughts are some other process eating CPU time.

Run ArmA in windowed mode and bring up Task Manager select the process tab and set it to sort by CPU usage watch to see if there is a process grabbing big chuncks of CPU time.

Second run a full virus and spyware check.

If it is ArmA my first guess would be driver problems with sound card drivers at the top of the list followed by video drivers.

We then come down to over ambitions settings for ArmA.

In order to help you we need some more info

Please either post a pic of your advanced ArmA settings or type them out.

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem as Dudester. I ran virus, spyware and adware checks with no results.

I'm running ArmA with every graphic setting as "low" just for the performance.

My ArmA version is 1.08. I bought the ArmA from here Finland and it's the 505 Games release. Then I upgraded it with "Arma_InternationalUpdate105" and then with "ArmA_InternationalUpdate105_108"

does it crash after freezing (for maybe two times). does arma show irregulur behaviour or graphic glitches? If yes, search & check other threads. There's lots of similar problems already sorted out (concerning driver issues, hardware incompatibilities with 8xxx geforce cards, securom, pagefile, alt-tabbing, general arma 1.08 misbehaviour) good luck

i noticed you have almost no free hard drive space you may wanna clean some up it could be something is trying to use virtual memory and isnt able to because of it....just a thought

No, ArmA does not crash after the freezes. It just freezes for several seconds and then carries on normally and does this every few minutes or so.

There is no other strange behaviours than the abovesaid but it keeps me from using aircraft, usually gets me killed in difficult situations and is also generally very annoying

I now have 5gig of free disk space at my D-drive. That is 5gig excluding the pagefile. The pagefile size is 1,5g - 3g. This has no effect on the situation. Should there be more space? I mean how much can the game suck virtual memory?

I used the search feature very actively but were unable to find any similar problems except in this one thread. Many have the freeze lead to crashing but here it's more like frequent standstills.

But if you think I have missed a crucial thread somewhere please link it here.

defrag, if u have 2gb turn paging file off. and like others said kill some backround processes, but for me no paging file did the trick, allso use -maxmem=256, 512,768 etc.
