Just a few questions

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was wondering a few things that others probably know already and would care to share..

1- Is there a way in an addon, when it is placed in the editor and previewed, it can call up other objects and place them if the coordinates are known? i.e. init script?

2- Are the units ingame actually ~1.8m tall?

3- About how high off the ground is a rifle barrel when kneeling?

4- Making the AI follow roadways - can they now drive over other, seperate paths? Like a highway overpass?

Thanks for any help.

Interessting questions...

1. I would say yes... I think the old CTI's from OFP do the same...

2. Isn't there a different height between them?

3. 0.8m - 1.10m I would say...

4. I think the AI still isn't able to do that!

4: In OFP, I had AI driving in a figure 8 loop or road, under then over a bridge, repeating forever if that's what you mean? If that was not meant to be possible I wish I kept the wrp! In ArmA, individual solders will go under and over bridges. Although they still choose to find other ways, such as swimming.

Thank you, the the addon I'm thinking about that would call objects is a building, several actually. I thought about passing the location of rooms to whoever will finish it (prepare for future begging of help wink_o.gif ) so it will be easier to furnish with objects. Then had a thought to have the addon able to have parameters passed that would do just that (wall, fountain, garden, residence 1,2,3..., business 1,2,3...) that would flesh out the features.

I figure this is how it could be done:

1- The person places the object in the editor, positions it, rotates it, makes the call in the init line for some features and hits preview.

2- Using axis translation calculations common in basic game design, all preset feature X/Y values are altered from the base setting of 0, for the current rotation of the base object and created in-situ...

Very good to hear about the figure '8' BTW.
