Sennacherib 0 Posted April 17, 2007 i use wings 3d (modelling, uvmapping), 3dsmax (boolean operations, rendering, texturing-normal map-specular, and the lods) i tried a lot of modeller and for me, wings 3d is the most easy to learn and use for a beginner. even anim8tor is really great, it uses a lot of functions. the most important thing is to find a tool which is appropriate for you. btw oxygen is a big crap (i mean the old one), no extrude tool, no uvmapping tool, no bevel tool, no inset tool. nephilim 0 Posted April 17, 2007 yea might be but oxygen isnt really meant to be a primary modelling tool inset, bevel and extrude can make your model really messy and too high poly real quick.
Sennacherib 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Quote[/b] ]inset, bevel and extrude can make your model really messy and too high poly real quick. absolutely not, if your modelling is good. these tools are not to create a lot of faces, but to help the modeller in his job. these tools just need a time to be learnt. for the moment i saw only double faces on the models which are from oxygen. because a lot of people don't know how to use the F6 keyboard. nephilim 0 Posted April 18, 2007 what ive meant is that you need to clean up you topology quite often if you cut or bevel (like with tringles etc etc) this can take some time .. :/
