Tom_Anger 0 Posted March 30, 2007 What can you do with the points?  Put them in a bank then buy something with them  Just kidding.  Looks like the NO's have it, although few do have something else to contribute on a possibility...  To add - this idea came to me because I am scripting points into an Attack & Defend map where the defenders can win if they do enough damage to the attackers.  What happens is as they do damage messages will come up stating that the alert has gone from code red to code orange, etc.  Eventually if the defenders to enough damage the threat is over and the win goes to those defending.  With this in mind I thought - why not get some type of universal method for basic outcomes on team vs team games and only display at the end or if need be half way through a game. My post is for multiplayer Team vs Team mostly geared for some form of measuring stick internal to the game only to be seen at the end as an idea on how the team did based on the system.  I know some misisons have points in them and the thought was to instead of having missions skewed about with weird point values, see if some form of spec could be setup with a guide and maybe a universal script.  The point system idea isn't just about a kill, but what type of kill, were points gained from taking or holding a base, etc. and then go from there.  Nothing to be made to negatively affect the way the game is played - just something to see at the end on a mission rating in addition to the win/loss appended. I may work out a spec and see what comes out of it.  This is a fun war simulation game not to be made into a cheatfest or CS:S thing so I know what people mean on the 'NO' answer. Thinking ahead, there may be some form of tool or code that could upload to a server for wins/losses, etc.  That means league sites may be interested.  I hope to work on/develop a point system spec (using excel) and script and see if missions made with them are worth it.  I kind of like the idea as long as it is not to negatively affect the method of gameplay.  That would be bad. If anyone else is interested let me know because this may not be easy to do alone and unfortunately it looks like I may be alone in this one, lol.  We can continue to discuss elsewhere and keep the communication going. -Puma- 2 Posted March 30, 2007 Instead of point system, we could have a rank system, where player goes up rank when he does good. The rank could be bind together with squad.xml, and have a (official) arm patch to show what rank u are. All this would be best to make as a Fun factor, and not in a I-shoot-u-And-heal-over-and-over-again factor.
Fiasco 0 Posted March 30, 2007 I programmed the databases and scorepages for Interactive Entertainment Networks online WW2 sim "Warbirds" and have been running / revising them for the last 9 years. Without a doubt it adds value to the game and is an extremely popular site for the games many players. Coincidentally, the the best pilots are those that consitantly and effectively use wingman and squad based tactics. The IEN scorepage website is currently down from a server move waiting for the domain name to catch up to the new IP.
Tom_Anger 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Please keep the us updated - at the very least myself at action-inside.com or shadowcompanyelite.com where I go by the tag SCE_FATMAN. I am definitely going to form up something on this and will do my best to not have it affect playability or teamwork.
