ArmA Will not Load !! Please help !!! :-(

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I hope someone can help?

ArmA will not load....I am using Windows Vista. My PC Specs are:

Asus P5N32-Sli Deluxe SE Motherboard with AC97 onboard sound

Intel Core2Duo 6400 processor

1GB OCZ 667mhz memory

MSI Nvidia 7900GTO 512MB DDR3 graphics card

DVD +/- RW drive

SATA-II 250 gig hard-drive

Windows Vista Ultimate

The problem:  Okay, before I bought the game I downloaded and installed the ArmA demo (which seemed to work fine until yesterday morning)  Yesterday morning the demo wouldnt load and seems to give me the same kind of error as the full game is now giving me. I didnt think anything of it and went out and bought the full game....I uninstalled the ArmA demo (I have to say that it seemed to uninstall unnaturally quick!!wink_o.gif

Anyway, then I installed the full game yesterday and it installed no problem. But upon running it, it gets to the stage where I see the row of tick-boxes on the screen, goes to a black screen where I can see the larger mouse pointer, then the screen goes completely black without the mouse pointer, then returns to windows and all I can see is a small window which says "ArmA has stopped working". Then thats it. thats all I get.

I have uninstalled the game (which also seems to uninstall unnaturally fast!?) and then reinstalled.  I have tried running the program as an administrator and tried tunning in compatibility mode for XP.  I have also reinstalled my NVIDIA and AC97 sound drivers. All the latest drivers are installed and I STILL get the same problems.

Any ideas huh.gif?

Did you buy the 505 games (v1.04) version and patch it to

1.05 already?

If that does not turn out good, maybe patch 1.06 will fix all

the various startup problems.

Sorry, cant be of more help right now. sad_o.gif

Hi leohopkins

You mention your AC'97 on board sound. It is a possible culprit. It has been one of the commonest causes of problems.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for it; as this is one of the most common problems people have had that causes lockups, CTD and blue screen.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloa....alse#AC

The AC97 is a complex problem and there are several different solutions to it that people have found worked for them.

Also download and install the latest OpenAL installer for windows

http://www.openal.org/downloads.html

There is additional info here.

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Troubleshooting

You do need to fill in ALL these details so we can help you, we especially need driver versions; so we can exclude or include them as the cause.

CPU

Graphics card (make, model, driver version, on-board ram)

Sound card (make, model and driver version)

RAM (how much you have)

ArmA version (which language, which patch)

DirectX version (all should be using 9.0c anyway)

DVD (make, model, driver version, we already have had someone who could not play the DVD because he was putting it in a CD player)

Error Report

ArmA Produces an error report; please look in:

C:\Documents and Settings\...Your user Account...\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA\

Open Your arma.RPT file in notepad and tell us what the bottom entry says. It will begin something like this.

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">=====================================================================

== C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe

=====================================================================

Kind Regards walker
