Lag?  In Single Player?

Recommended Posts

OK, I have two really weird issues that just started cropping up.

The first, is a weird lag on death animations. Sometimes it takes up to a full second for a target to fall over dead and produce a blood sprite. Same with wounding shots too, they won't even register the hit until after a noticeable pause.

The second, is a strange issue where random objects will render out of sync with the rest of the scene. It could be anything from a random tree stuck in low LOD for a few seconds, or watching a truck drive by as basically a brown square. These objects will eventually finish rendering, but only after a notable pause. The appearance of this bug also causes massive frame rate loss until the offending object "catches up" and fully render.

Both of these bugs have just cropped up at the same time.

mate its the game, haven't you read the millions upon millions of complaints regarding graphical problems with Arma. People with crap, medium and top end specs are all having problems yet some people are experiencing no problems what so ever.

I have the texture loading problem too. When i get into an APC, all the troops look like ghosts for 3 seconds until the texture layers load. Its really annoying at first but i've got used to it now and find it amusing. Its like a Spectrum ZX 48 game.

I've lowered my texture and object settings to LOW and reduced res to 800x600. Its seems to have helped a little.

Hi degamer

This is an odd one. So first we need a bit more information, but I think it may be sound related.

You do need to fill in ALL these details so we can help you, we especially need driver versions; so we can exclude or include them as the cause.

CPU

Graphics card (make, model, driver version, on-board ram)

Sound card  (make, model and driver version)

RAM (how much you have)

ArmA version (which language, which patch)

DirectX version (all should be using 9.0c anyway)

DVD (make, model, driver version, we already have had someone who could not play the DVD because he was putting it in a CD player)

A minor asside to jordan_dj21. In here we try to deal in solutions.

Kind Regards Walker

I can confirm the strange delay on death anims in version 1.05 (505 Games). It's not a full second, but I suspect it's long enough too make me waste ammo on people I've already killed. It's a little bit annoying at most, but not the end of the world IMO.

My specs:

An Intel Dual Core 6600 running Vista with...

... 4 gigs RAM and

... a nVidia GeForce 7900 GS (256 Mb) latest drivers

Hi nominesine

Sound is sychronised to Video.

That is why with all games what apears to be a video card problem can often be a sound problem.

Please Fill in all the details requested.

Sound Card!

Driver version numbers saying latest drivers means nothing. Latest from where? For my laptop I have to install the latest version of my graphic card not from ATI, I have to install the Fujitsu Siemens ones.

Kind Regards walker

Arma can't interrupt an animation to start a new one (like falling over dead). If your target is in the middle of a long animation like pulling out his AT weapon, he won't react to being hit until it is done.

Actually, that might not be your problem. IIRC, damage skins appear the moment they are hit, it is only the animation that is delayed. If your blood sprites are delayed too, well dunno.

After some testing I believe this is the explanation. If I set up a hint trigger, that says "Dead" when a unit is !(alive unit) it will sometimes fire a split second before the unit looks dead on screen. This isn't a big problem for me, so I don't intend to spend any more time delving into the mystery.

Latest drivers was refering to the latest drivers released for the mentioned video card, by nVidia. They're ususally available from the producers homepage - not someones personal laptop computer.
