How I get ArmA 1.05 to run

Recommended Posts

First I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions on how to get ArmA 1.05 running. Although none of them worked, thank you all the same. I could not get ArmA to even start. My mouse pointer would flicker and then just dump, like nothing happened.

I found by opening the folder where the arma.exe, right-clicking on the executable and selecting "Run as" and choose Administrator, enter the administrators password ArmA will start.

I will add that I do have administrators rights on my PC, but it seems that "only" the administrator can run the game. I hope this helps others.

That option just makes sure every user has the shortcut to ArmA on his startmenu.

If you really need to be logged in as Admin to run ArmA, or if you need to run ArmA with admin rights then that's somethin BI should look into.

Edit: I just tried to run ArmA with a non-administrator Account and it runs fine, even if I just call the arma.exe from the folder it was installed to.

I'm happy to hear you can run it both ways, non-admin and admin, but I can't, and maybe it's because I have the EU version and the others don't react the same way. Regardless, I wanted to post this information to whom ever else out there that couldn't get ArmA to start, maybe this will get them in the game.

It's MY only way into the game.

Depends on the security settings of the machine.

If someone has a WXP pro box, he can configure it so, that only administrators can launch executables. But actually you'd get a message saying something like "You don't have sufficient user rights to perform this operation" if that was the case.
