ArmA has so many more posibilities than the BF series, its one of the reasons why I love it. ArmA can be different in many different ways. Different maps, servers and game modes.. and BF has about 15 maps max on each game with 1-2 game mods. Mods arnt easy on BF as far as I know.. making a map in ArmA takes a few seconds (a baisic one anyway)..

I stopped playing BF because it was the same from when i bought the game. Woot I got an unlock, made it slightly fun for about a day and then it was boring again.

I love BF2, I have racked up 1000 hours since its release.

In the most simple terms BF is a ACTION based militray shooter. ARMA is a realistic tatics based Military Sim'.

ARMA takes the fun of BF2, add the world size and change of day that Join Op's had (copied from Op' flashpoit) with pretty FX and add's some cool features like Bullet Physics and a ton of tanks/choppers and gun right out the box.

The different game modes, team,hold,coop appeal to all the different styles of players.

If you love BF2 CS then HOLD is the one for you.

If you love Delta force, OPF or Joint Op's then coop may be your cup of tea. I enjoyed them all today found them all super stable and will continue playing for a long time.

To answer your questions: BF:2142 or ARMA if you have a decent PC 7 series cards 2 gig ram etc, ARMA may provide alot more replay value as it has so many things like the mission editor massive SP replay and missions from the comunity, as well as so many MP modes that suit almost every play style. Its about 5 games in 1 box and thats with out the mods. BF2 or 2142 is 1 game in the box. ARMA is better value for money.

Are you for real? The Battlefield series has more abusive idiots hiding behind the keyboard where they know they will suffer no retribution, than any other game I have EVER played.

The mere suggestion that ArmA somehow has more, is laughable. Sure, there are some, but nowhere near the "School for Special Needs" that the BF series is.

Those who say that BF2 doesn't have realism haven't installed the Project Reality mod.

i have, and it isnt.

it's better for sure, but the engine isnt geared towards realistic combat. period, sadly.

I can see the appeal of BF2. Its just gets old after playing quake/unreal and other fast shooters that this seems to come from. ARMA just seems more evolved, and sophisticated (maybe too much....naahhh! BF2 has vehicles and a good look to the game I think the maps look great and theres alot of good firefights to be had. It just doesnt play like a grown ups game to me. It makes me feel like grandpa trying to tag some rounds on the hyper kids with thier mouse speed set to uber twitch and they know how to shoot around the dispersion code. I swear Im standing infront of a guy with HMG and I fired at him and I could see all the shots around him in a circle ala Pulp Fiction. Guy nails me with pistol, humiliating. Its like the game punished me for shooting while standing and nothing I could do could get rounds on the target. This was at near point blank range! In OFP you could spray and pray at close range. Some guy sneaks up on your position, you go behind cover to make sure your full auto. You emerge behind the invader and unload the clip while panning the barrel back and forth. He is toast! I couldnt do this in BF2 if you out there reading this are leet at the game good for you but its not for me and Im not afraid to admit it.
