brokekneck 0 Posted March 9, 2007 Hi all, now this doesn't happed all the time. But if I play ArmA for some time. The graphics start going crazy, performence gets horrible and choppy. Its like its using the distance models upclose, then goes back normal, then back to distance models. I usally have to reboot afterward. Its like its cycling through the diffrent LOD's. W0lle 1052 Posted March 9, 2007 There are a lot of topic here discussing such issues. Just a suggestion, maybe update your nvidia drivers.
AMA31 0 Posted March 9, 2007 welcome to the club i have an e6600 + 8800 GTX with 100.65 if i install 1.5 i get corruption and crashes constantly. If i leave it at 1.4 and lower my resolution i.e. 1900x1200 unsure what res but the one just below this. it works? dont ask me
MrZig 0 Posted March 9, 2007 Try lowering texture size. If you've got 256mb or less, set it to medium or low.
Pierre From Belgium 0 Posted March 9, 2007 ME TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am shocked, I have exactly the same problem ! I have horrible bugs that I had never with 1.02! Honestly, I am a little furious against BIS to have left similar problems for an “improved†patch !!   * Edit: I tried to change textures...everything on low and NOTHING !!!! It's seems there's an incompatibility with VISTA and AA 1.05 driver... The latest nvidia driver 101.41 is a real bullshit !! I used 100.65 !
brokekneck 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Updated everything and still having the same problems.... I have no idea why it is acting this way.
INNOCENT&CLUELESS 0 Posted March 23, 2007 @Wolle: For XP users I would rather suggest to write nasty letters to both BI and NVIDIA to sit together. 97.92 official version DOES NOT WORK for a lot of modern MB / 8800 combinations for ANY game in a reliable way. With 100.95 pimped by Guru3D I still get freezes, BSOD not until now, but I tested only 4 minutes (then I got a freeze and gave up). I would like to rely on official drivers since othervise they say "yeah, no guarantee cause you did not used the official driver". To make it short: The is NO OFFICIAL WORKING XP driver out there serving 8800 G80 GPUs in a reliable way for latest Games. Hence suggesting to upgrade the driver is....pointless? troop 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Rough Guideline ArmA on different Videocards-avaiable VRAM-suggested(! ) settings. Ok, derived from Windows XP SP2 tests on 6800GT GLH 256MB (res:800x600 - 1152x864max) (nforce2 AGP) 93.81b driver 7800GS+ 512MB (res:1152x864 - 1600x1200max) (nforce3 AGP) 93.81b driver 8800GTS 640MB (res:1280x1024 - 1920x1440max) (nforce4 PCIe) 97.92NGO driver (could not test 128MB VRAM settings; lack of gfx card) disabled* stands for: If 'disabled' at your current reasonable resolution provides OK framerates and *no* errors; try option one notch higher OR one notch higher resolution with same settings. Of course, there are the 2 main other factors; your CPU und avaiable RAM size. But in general, approach low with the graphical settings and if satisfactory results, try either (1) higher res OR more eye candy, not both at the same time. Texture Detail is *critical* for so many errors reported, so at every res, I suggest you keep it at 'normal' at all times. (Until an future patch/driver further tweaks this component) And yes, I specifically mean the 8800s Shading Detail is similar critical, but to an lesser extend. (depends very much on GFX card specific architecture, see below) LOD errors, missing textures and the like are caused by too high settings for the capability of the gfxcard/internal design (pipelines/bus bandwidth/AGP aperture and PCIe system bus) plus driver issues. All tests/settings aimed for 19-35FPS, no LOD errors/flickering Higher FPS are possible, of course. Viewrange has the most effect on FPS with suggested settings. For faster, aim lower. 128MB VRAM (no tests; lack of card; speculation) Viewrange: 500-800 Terrain Detail: very low Object Detail: very low/low Texture Detail: normal Shading Detail: disabled/very low Post Process: low Anisotrophic: disabled* Shadow Detail: disabled* Antialiasing: disabled* Blood: High --- 256MB VRAM (1024x768) Viewrange: 800-1200 Terrain Detail: very low/low Object Detail: low Texture Detail: normal Shading Detail: low Post Process: low Anisotrophic: low/normal Shadow Detail: disabled/low Antialiasing: disabled Blood: High --- 512MB VRAM (1280x1024) Viewrange: 1000-1500 Terrain Detail: low Object Detail: normal Texture Detail: normal Shading Detail: normal Post Process: low Anisotrophic: normal/high Shadow Detail: normal Antialiasing: disabled/low/normal Blood: High --- 640MB VRAM (1600x1200; 1920x1440 with *lowered* settings fine) Viewrange: 1200-2000 Terrain Detail: low/normal Object Detail: normal Texture Detail: normal Shading Detail: normal/high Post Process: low/high Anisotrophic: high/very high Shadow Detail: normal/high Antialiasing: disabled/low/normal Blood: High --- 768MB VRAM (1600x1200, 1920x1440 no tests; lack of card; speculation) Viewrange: 1200-2500 Terrain Detail: low/normal/high Object Detail: normal/high Texture Detail: normal(! ) Shading Detail: normal/high Post Process: low/high Anisotrophic: high/very high Shadow Detail: normal/high Antialiasing: disabled/low/normal Blood: High ----- Try, suggest, discuss, I guess. brokekneck 0 Posted March 26, 2007 I reported it as a bug. Tried mixing about with the setting alittle not fully suggested options but did turn them down. Here is a link to the bug tracker. http://bugs.armed-assault.net/view.php?id=2315
dirtylarrygb 0 Posted March 27, 2007 8800 destruction tested 768MB VRAM (1600x1024,) Single Player/Multiplayer best look + FPS Viewrange: 1200-1800 Terrain Detail: low* Object Detail: very high Texture Detail: low* Shading Detail: very high Post Process: LOW* Anisotrophic: very high Shadow Detail: OFF or VERYHIGH Antialiasing: NORMAL Blood: High Min 30 normal 60 FPS anywhere. No crashes or bugs etc, I'm running an AMD 4000 so if you have core duo you can probably go even higher! Screenshot Mode: You can max everything BAR terrain (treat normal as max), keep vis under 3km if you want more than 10 FPS, Very high textures and very high terrain seems to bottleneck my PC and wham ARMA will freeze. No issue as I can just CTRL/ALT/DEL and reload it.
brokekneck 0 Posted March 28, 2007 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7022100414700182647 I uploaded a video of the issue I'm having. This will continue till I restart the game. If your having the same issue please reply to me post on bug tracker.

But ARMA under the stable settings appears as stable as WOW BF2 etc etc on the 8800. Now once they fix the fog bug i can start sniping... ;}
