Civies walking the fine line *next* to roads

Kinda noticed that all units (including civies) enjoy walking in the middle of roads regardless if their move positions are placed next to them-

Wondered if anyone has had any luck with getting them to walk next to a road - this particular instance being civies in cities/towns would *prefer* to have them walk on the side walks/or side of roads on the main in town roads, although I get the feeling this may not be possible..

It depends on how the maps (and its roadways) are defined.

Not much you can do about. (Other than making your own island...)

Someone should make a honk-away script to blow them from the streets once you are honking into town....hmmm smile_o.gif

Is there an eventhandler for the horn ? tounge2.gif

I reported this on the wiki wishlist.

It creates 2 problems: troops got killed by vehicles and the natural drunk AI drivers have lots of problems to avoid them.

thanks for the responses, ya, I figured there was no way, but, Ive also been suprised on these forums by asking about things I thought were impossible, just not this time.

Really, it would be DANG nice, to have a script command that would force ai units to go directly to a position, no pathing involved, normally this would be useless, cept in places where u need a unit to go driectly strait to a position, like eye candy stuff in a town for civies or garrison patrols.

Well, that would be done via a setPos.

But I'm sure you know that already, no?

Meant a unit *moving* directly to a pos (no pathing meaning basically going in a strait line) rather than teleporting (although I suppose this would work in a multi-dimension plane mission, where units *warp* themselves thru various planes to positions :P)

it sure sounds not too complicated to have infantry/civies ignore roads in their pathfinding... i'm hopeful for a 'fix' by BI smile_o.gif
