Racingralph 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Can anybody help with a problem I have. When I start the game app it returns "ArmA has encountered a problem and needs to close" etc. etc. Apparantly its a clash with my creative x-fi card according to the microsoft error reporting. If I uninstall the x-fi software it will work ok but I not happy at doing this just for a rogue game. I've patched the game to the latest spec. and all graphics / mobo drivers / bios is all bang on. The machine works flawlessly on everything bar this game. Machine spec. Mr_Tea 0 Posted March 4, 2007 The X-FI drivers and Software are up to date too?
Racingralph 0 Posted March 4, 2007 yep - all latest. Tried all of the usul things but only way to make it work is to uninstall x-fi software (not the x-fi drivers just the associated software). That means losing the 3 way mode switcher and various other things which i'm not going to do. cheers.
Mr_Tea 0 Posted March 4, 2007 There must be a "bug" in the X-FI Software. I`m afraid you`ll have to wait for a newer version of that Software.
JFK 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Hi, i'm also using an x-fi music. Got no problems with software at all. Did you always switch to Game-Mode before launching ArmA? Thats the only problem i know, already mentioned a lot of times in the forum, people had that problem while starting in different mode than game-mode. Edit: Here's the according discussion. It's already a bit old, but hopefully that helps. Cya
odjob 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Have you installed the latest OpenAL drivers? I had this problem in XP, but now im running Vista with Creatives latest beta drivers and i can use "Entertainment Mode" without crashes. Might be 105 patch that fixed it tho. Jack-UK 0 Posted March 4, 2007 The solution is to put the Xfi into GAME MODE. This issue is solved in the Hardware Issues sticky... please read them...
Racingralph 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Actually.....it is'nt. I've tried all 3 modes and theres no difference. It encounters a problem and has to be shut down etc. I've not had any problems with any other games or apps.
memnoch 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Can you shut down all the additional software before playing the game? I use a handy program before playing any game software. It's called EndItAll2. At the single press of a button it closes or kills any applications that aren't protected by the system or yourself. Takes a few seconds to run and frees up a lot of resources. Download it here
Jack-UK 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Well there will be a conflicting setting within the XFI control panel if it works when the control panel is uninstalled... Look to see if theres a "Restore to Defaults" in the XFI control panel and try it again...
SlurrpyChillyFries 0 Posted March 5, 2007 i had this same issue. i bought the fatality gamer pro and used the drivers off of the cd. everytime i started the game it would give me this error. because when i went to creative's site, they dont list updated drivers for my card, i had to go to select a different fatality card to find updated drivers (i think i select the x-fi gamers edition). once i installed those drivers my problems went away.
