Unjust  (D3DERR_INVALIDCALL)?

Recommended Posts

Firstly my computer has an ATI Radeon 9250 with 256mb RAM.

Not the newest card but better than the minimum requirement yet I still get the

" "Cannot create 3D device" (D3DERR_INVALIDCALL) "

The support information is

"Upgrade video card. Card with Shader Model 2 or higher is required to run ArmA. "

This graphics card card states on the front of the box "which I am not holding right now" that it has a 2 pipeline shader or something similar. Is this not the same thing and if it is why would it not work.

I have emailed the corresponding support address for my country but it has been a week with no reply, in my experience this either means that I am in with a long wait or that the company does not know what is wrong.

If any other computer specs are needed i'll post them and would like to know if anybody here has had the same problem and can help?

The radion 9250 does not support shader2. The lowest radion to support shader2 was the 9800 series. That would be the minimum spec radion card for running this game. Actually I am not sure even about the normal 9800s or if it has to be the 9800xt. In any case they would be the absolute minimum and you would be better advised to invest in the best card you can afford.

Cheers,

Stewart.

I am buying a new graphics card now   and  x1650 (that will work wont it?)

but if 9800 was the first to support shader2 why does the game only require 9500, or was it a simply typing mistake.

Hi all

Best ATI card at a reasonable price is the x1950pro you can get one from as little as 120.00 UK pounds for a 256mb there are 512mb about for only a little more.

Most reviews put as the best card in the price range.

http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/Sapphire_Ultimate_X1950PRO/

The high number of shaders is key to its performance in ArmA.

With the right mother board you can run a pair in crossfire mode so it is an easy upgrade solution for latter.

Kind regards walker

Hi umbr44

From Dabs price ranges 114.64 UK pounds for a 256mb to 149.94 UK Pounds for a 512mb

http://www.dabs.com/Product....hType=1

Just do a search on the web for your local dealer if you dont want to buy direct via the web with someone like Dabs.

I picked one up at my local computer parts dealer for about 140.00 UK Pounds a couple of months back.

It is the top recommended mid price card in all the magazine reviews. If used in crossfire mode two 256mb of these are as good as the top 512mb Nvidia card and cost 100 UK pounds less.

Kind Regards Walker

Killerwatt if i may i correct Your mistake ...

lowest ATI card able run ArmA is 9500 serie (cheap brother of 9700) ...

9800 is bit improved 9700 ...

by exp. anything slower than 9700 (this includes lowend X13xx serie and lowest variants of X1600) results into slideshow ...
