ConanOfOz 0 Posted February 3, 2002 What is it with the AI pilot? Sometimes he's as thick as two short planks. Well, that's frustration showing, but my major desire is to find out how to make him land where I want him to. Without telling him to disembark, that is, cause that's the only way I can get him down. You see, in Red Dawn I like to play gunner, and much earlier in Hind Attack I get a little lazy once I've hijacked a chopper and just go for the ride, telling the "boys" what to shoot at. Now, sometimes, telling the pilot to "move" somewhere works fine; he'll fly to about where I said, then hover. But sometimes, he gets carried away and shoots through the waypoint I gave him, then charges off on some vector of his own (apparently) random choosing. In that last instance, I suspect he is going after targets even though I didn't tell him to. Whatever the case, the are times when I want him to land whithout having him disembark. Now, I've read the original manual several times, and I've been through most of the Red Hammer strategy guide, but I can't find anywhere where you can tell the pilot to "Land this puppy". There are other (possibly related) instances where the AI just doesn't seem to make sense. Like telling your squad to "Hold Fire", then designating targets, then "Engage" which is supposed to make them move to attack range but not fire, and yet sometimes they do anyway. Well, in general, I'd like to see a treatise on how to control the AI in OF, but specifically, I'd like better control of the AI pilot. Any help out there?
