celery 8 Posted January 22, 2007 What is your favorite multiplayer map in the genres of capture the flag, capture & hold or deathmatch? If you have a favorite, tell the name of the map and if the map is not a really famous one, try to describe it and explain what is good in it! Maps from both OFP and ArmA will do, if you don't have a favorite, tell us what kind appeals to you the most. For starters, in OFP I liked CTF Red Snow. It was a medium sized CQB in winter Nogojev, the atmosphere in a dark, snowy town was without equal and it did help that I am particularly good in snow maps. The first thing I do when a decent winter island is released is make a similar map. The one deathmatch I would always play if I saw it on the list was the simple but classic DM Ruins on Kolgujev. A perfect balance between stealth, sniping and run n' gunning. In ArmA so far I've liked DM Vodka in the village of Rahmadi and Hexenkessel. Vodka is a bit like Tequila in OFP, just simple shooting and the area is quite small but still complex enough to find a hiding place. Hexen was one of my first experiences in OFP and I remember that I was amazed by the architecture, at that time I didn't know you could add buildings in the editor. The design is quite simple but the 3 + 3 corridors and the middle area add a feeling of tactics that other similar maps lack. Successfully flanking the enemy always makes you feel like a man. I will use the results to determine what kinds of maps have demand in the community, but also to satisfy my natural curiosity!
Tracer Gun Kata 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Small CTF maps and Mid Range C&H. I like to play these styles of maps competitively. I have no named favourites, I am simply told when to turn up for a match and play. It's the competition which makes the map great for me. It can be small or large, just make sure the opponents aren't AI and I am happy. At a push - CCL League - Excellent examples of some mid range C&H's (don't know the names of the maps) Mokra has always been one of the great maps I have played in a CTF environment.
