INNOCENT&CLUELESS 0 Posted January 16, 2007 I usually do not pay any supplier if I do not get sufficient documentation together with the deliveries to operate whatever it is independent from the supplier. Usually the "system" consists in HW+SW+Doc. If one of those items is missing 0% is delivered. In the case of ArmA we talk about SW+Doc only but except mr. Murrays guide I feel left alone. Since this is usual in the game industry to deliver bad documentation, BI with ArmA is topping this by delivering NO documentation. To solve this quickly here is my suggestion: As far as there is no danger of loosing company confidential information BI invites volunters out of the community into their developement premises to be the Ghostwriters for those lazy guys hacking the code. The Ghostwriters could be embedded for several weeks sitting on the sholders of your top staff. Those Ghostwriters must have following capabilities: - Czech+English speaking - Name in the OFP scripting community - able to digest good strong Czech beer Target Results: - Whiping out english errors in code and description - Reference guide for Mission scripting - Reference guide for addon making - Reference guide for Island making (maybe merged with addon) each command/parameter should be explained with: - version when introduced - format of the value - value range allowed - how it works - referral/formulas to real life values (e.g. 3546,44 Fluxpoints equals 55,9 km/h - To the Spanel-Brothers: Just say YES! Keep in mind: I took you several years to create that amazing OFP and a few more years to create that wonderful community. But it needs just an ALPHA like ArmA 1.01 and/or the release of a similar engine and you loose all that within weeks. So help yourself and let us help you. Col. Faulkner 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Since this is usual in the game industry to deliver bad documentation, BI with ArmA is topping this by delivering NO documentation. Dunno about you but the ArmA I bought comes with a professionally printed 40 page manual, entirely adequate for "operating" the game.
Clavicula_nox4817 0 Posted January 16, 2007 my downloaded version came with a manual in German, what's the big deal? FOr mission making, there are too many tutorials on either this board or any of the old OFP websites. When O2 first came out, it came with an example, and I'm sure when the new version comes out it will have one too. What, just because they didnt have an english manual for the Czech/German version? Sorry, but the english version of the game isn't even released yet so what can you expect? Quote[/b] ]each command/parameter should be explained with:- version when introduced - format of the value - value range allowed - how it works - referral/formulas to real life values (e.g. 3546,44 Fluxpoints equals 55,9 km/h These are explained in the community Biki, seriously, BIS has put out the command reference with every new release. The stuff you want already exists, don't blame BIS because you don't want to look for it like the rest of us have.
