SWAT_CDN 0 Posted January 9, 2007 Anybody know what the maximum flying altitude is in Armed Assault (version 1.02) should be if any? Also, the maximum flight speed of the Harrier? Thanks
Guest Posted January 9, 2007 In standard OFP I remember the good ol' times when my pals and moi could take a full-loaded chopper right into the sky @ around 10km max. That usually started the inquisition campaign "Who's that f*cking Pilot?" and mass-kickouts. But luckily for all of us the people with chutes needed 5 mins or more to land in the water. So MUCH for playing a game! I hope you can swim.
wamingo 1 Posted January 9, 2007 In arma demo, took the blackhawk to about ~1600m's then it dropped down a bit. can't see the ground past the view distance anyway I bet.

Depends what you have your viewdistance on  No, what's post the view distance can't be seen no m:atter what it is. I mean it depends on your particular setting. i.e. "[~1600m] can't see the ground past the view distance " because his viewdistance is set to ~1600m If someone else's was set to 10km, they would be able to fly to 10km and still see the ground directly below them. (~9km realistically :P ) EDIT: Whoops, appears I have misunderstood the first statement which I replied to  Nevermind! :P
SWAT_CDN 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Ok, here is my answer to my question: In the stock Harrier: I reached an altitude of over "6707", (I think it might of went more if I didn't stop it) and A whopping speed of "676" (it was up to 678 before I did the "Print screen" shot) Now I have a photo to prove it (If i can figure out how to reduce it from it's 3.5 meg to 100 K) This was done with No cheating, No Tricks. Being Armed Assault is fairly new I feel like a "Flying Pioneer". Went where no man has gone before!!!! Â
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted January 10, 2007 A bit offtopic, but to clarify If the viewdistance is 1600 metres, you can only see 800 metres to each direction. (Diameter = View distance)
-CS-SOBR-1st-I-R- 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Now I have a photo to prove it (If i can figure out how to reduce it from it's 3.5 meg to 100 K) Use and kind of photo programm (Irfan view, even paint), open the file (which is a BMP) and save it as a JPG file and wooosh the filesize is smaller. If it still is above 100 KB, use Irfan View to lower the resolution.

OMG... Viewdistance should be the distance you can see! Which means, the distance from your eyes to where you can't see anymore! RADIUS, not diameter... because you don't see in two directions at the same time, only one!!!

But when turning around alot extra stuff would have to be loaded into the memory veray fast (everyone who played OFP and put the viewdistance on 5000 knows what i mean, imagine that, but with every turn you make, not just the first few turns which load everything)
