bl00k 0 Posted December 31, 2006 *Before you flame, I did search the forums for this topic already and did not find discussion about the Logitech G15 for ArmA. I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum to post my question* I just got a Logitech G15 keyboard for Christmas. I was wondering if ArmA already supports the LCD screen with any extra features or info, if not, are there plans to add support in a future patch?
JRMZ 0 Posted December 31, 2006 congratulations I got one to. it's one of the best keyboards I have ever had check http://www.g15mods.com/ you can add a request there also and find out about other supported games.
frederf 0 Posted December 31, 2006 My friend has a G15, I'll ask him if there's anything special out of the box for the LCD screen. Trying hard to think what you'd actually put on the screen to be honest. Ammo? Compass? Watch? I think it's a little silly to ask if the Logitech G15 was compatible with ArmA... it's a keyboard, of course it's compatible!
Sentralia 0 Posted December 31, 2006 There is an SDK. People who know C++ can make applets for the LCD screen. I think there are some wrappers too, for people using managed code, and maybe a VB wrapper. The SDK is in the folder where you installed the software. DaSquade 0 Posted January 1, 2007 If it might help, i did contacted Logitech and gave them the needed info to contact BIS. I received comfirmation by Placebo (PM, but lost it apperently) that they had in the weeks after my request here (so guess my input helped a bit ). Anyway, from what i remember, all info was transfered to devs to look into. So it can be BIS will support G15 boards in one of the future patches, but can be they don't... So it is 50-50. Time will tell... To quote Placebo from an earlier PM: Quote[/b] ]We're always willing and interested to support new technology if it benefits the game and can benefit the community, but we don't have the time or inclination to chase hardware companies themselves, if they want us to support them, they should contact us, if they want their item to be marketable and profitable then they should pro actively contact developers the same way Naturalpoint do with TrackIR. Maybe specific support for it could be patched in later but I don't know and nobody here would be able to answer that until they sent us some hardware to play with
Sentralia 0 Posted January 1, 2007 I'm willing to work with someone to make third party support. Anyone willing?
bl00k 0 Posted January 1, 2007 Thanks for the feedback everyone. HitmanFF, I searched for G15 and did not get that post returned in my results. Weird. I'm not a programer and don't intend on learning how to do it myself. Frederf, that is why I specifically said "I was wondering if ArmA already supports the LCD screen with any extra features" and not just a general comment about the keyboard itself. As for what to put there, off the top of my head; mission updates, ammo, compass, squad info (like what formation you have selected, etc.) just anything at all. Basically I have a new toy and want to see what it can do. Now I just need a new PC to actually run ArmA. The demo runs like poo on my system.
Stoned Delta 0 Posted January 2, 2007 This is a post that will probably be locked as Placebo has already answered a resounding "no" , but there is still something that can be done... Everyone eho reads this that owns or plans to own "the Leet'est" keyboard around (G15) needs to send Logitech an email asking them to send BIS some hardware. Being able to have a watch, compass, and ammo count on one LCD button, and other Info at the touch of 3 other buttons is priceless for ArmA. So dont be afraid to ask the company you already (or plan to) purchase products from to help out BIS with some free hardware to make support for the G15 a reality. Click Here to get to the logitech contact page and call the corparate office until they release some hardware to BIS!
