1.4 patch as buggy as 1.3

Recommended Posts

I really wish they would quit putting CD Checkers in their freaking patches....if FADE really works, they shouldn't worry about a cd check in a patch.

When I try to install the 1.4, I get the d*amn Flashpoint loading screen, then nothing. So I can't even install it.

Had the same prob w/ 1.3 until some nice soul gave me a crack for the patch. Is that angel still around? If so, please e-mail me at [email protected] or [email protected]

Thanks.

Well I had a plain v1.30 installed, v1.40 patch said 1.30 verified ok and installed without a problem.

Suggestion, remove whole OFP from the drive. Install a fresh 1.0 again, make a backup of that 1.0 to a safe place (like I burn it to a cd to be able to restore it in few seconds when I need to upgrade again)

Then upgrade to 1.20/1.30 and install 1.40

thats prob. the reason why you had the problem installing 1.4  cause you had a crack installed.....

my sug. 2 u is unistall op flash then reinstal 1.0,1.2,1.3 then 1.4   or  if you have the US version 1.2,1.3 then 1.4 no cracks.

it could be the cause then again it could not.... worth a try all the same.

Thanks for the suggesstions, I've tried these, and I'm in the US so I start w/ the 1.2 version.

The only reason I used the crack for 1.3 was BIS couldn't figure it out, and reformatting my drive wasn't an option, to much work stuff on it, and shouldn't have to if they write patches that work correctly.

I'm trying again today w/ all new downloaded patches (1.3 and 1.4) just for the #### of it.

THe crack will screw up your install. The patch works fine for me. I think the crack screws you up. Also, if you have modified maps or other add-ons, they may contribute to the problem as well.

I have the same problem, the CD start spinning, the Flashpoint-logo shows up for some second - then - nothing. I have no crack whatsoever, pure plain original from the European ver via 1.20 aso to 1.30 and now I'm trying the 1.40 to no avail. But there might be some problem with the maps maybe, as suggested...

Search The FAQ for "logo display".

I tried to upgrade to OFP vers 1.4 but all it did was show the logo screen and then end without upgrading (I checked the .exe file and it was still 1.3).

So I reinstalled OFP twice and went through the patches in order (1.2 - 1.3 - 1.4) but now it won't even upgrade to vers 1.3 it just does the same thing - when previously I had been running 1.3 - so now I am stuck with buggy 1.2

WHAT IS GOING ON?

I don't get it - why did it let me upgrade to 1.3 before but now that I have tried to run the 1.4 patch my 1.3 patch wont work either?

Please if anyone knows how to fix this please tell me.

I have not used any cracks at all, I have a Euro copy and the 1.3 patch is the same file that I have used once already successfully - I have been through my entire registry taking out all OFP references in an attempt to fix this but that has not worked either.

Also another thing I have noticed is whenever I restart my machine after running OFP I get the 'system is updating your configuration files' messsage when windows is loading, it has done this since vers 1.0 and it has never really given me any problems but it is very suspicious none the less - does anyone else get this message?

Had the same problem under W98, my solution was simple : after the logo is on screen, and your CD drive has stopped, open and immediatly close you CD drive, patching will continue. Worked for me.

BTW, I'm now under Win2k, and the problem has disapeared.

Hope this helps,

Well I have managed to fix this problem by formatting my HDD and re-installing everything - not that I really noticed any difference in the game since upgrading to 1.4 but hey at least I can actually join an online game now. Still getting the 'system is updating your configuration files' messsage whenever I restart after playing though.

I cannot wait until BIS develop the training software for the USMC - Error 505 'Sorry your grunts PBO is corrupted - please enlist new soldiers and re-apply patch'

Oops, forgot I posted here, sorry for the late answer.

Well, the patching process restated immediatly after the closing of the CD drive.
