How long would this upgrade last?

Recommended Posts

I just recently upgraded my computer, I am tried of the 835 benchmark for OFP. It is torture when I play missions like Red Hammer's Beach map.

My old comp

Intel Pentium III 450MHZ

Intel 82443BX Motherboard

Asus V-7700 Geforce II GTS 32mb

320mb PC-100 SDRAM

10GB 5400Harddrive

48x CDROM drive

New comp                         wink.gif

AMD Athlon XP 1800 1.53GHZ

Asus A7V266 Motherboard

Asus V-7700 Geforce II GTS 32mb

Crucial 512 PC-2100 DDRRAM

Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM Harddrive

Western Digital 10GB 5400RPM Harddrive (same old one)

A 12xDVD drive! and a Aluminum case for superior cooling

By next week I will recieve and finally enjoy 1600x1200x32! Does anyone here have a similar configuation to my system specs, if someone does please tell me how OFP runs.

I just wonder when games would start to become slow again and I would have to upgrade...

No more than 3yrs is my guess. Either AMD or Intel will comeup with processor that's twice better by then, and games like OFP2 will require 1Ghx or higher processor to do its awesome stuff.

I assembled mine for about US$400 last March, and doubled RAM and added GeForce just for OFP. Never had in my mind thought that I would upgrade for a game.(AMD Duron 750, 256MB RAM, GF2). but it's worth every penny.

This will probably be obsolete in a year or so as a good game player.

yours will be ok...but any PC pver 3yrs is old for good latest game playing.
