jwflowersii 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I have posted this once before, but I've uploaded my crash files to Filefont. Â I can't even launch ArmA without crashing to desktop. http://files.filefront.com/armabidmp/;6369949;;/fileinfo.html http://files.filefront.com/armamdmp/;6369955;;/fileinfo.html http://files.filefront.com/armaRPT/;6369956;;/fileinfo.html http://files.filefront.com/DxDiagtxt/;6369959;;/fileinfo.html Any help would be greatly appreciated. Â I've been looking forward to this game and I'm really bummed I can't get it running especially with a top of the line system. DaSquade 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I can only suggest to install all latest availible drivers . Hope you get your problem fixed as i have simular system in mind... Maybe also report what sound card you use, as that was what caused my ArmA not to launch (had older Audigy2 driver).
Moh-Aw 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I have the same problem. Everything worked fine until i installed the 1.02 patch. I had this error in the earlier versions but all i had to do was a reboot and it would work. Now the game doesn't start anymore. It loads up fine at first but as soon as I'm coming to the main menu screen it crashed to desktop. deanosbeano 0 Posted December 17, 2006 have you had a ctd whilst playing online , before this ? its what happened to me, so i will put how i fixed ,just in case it helps. there are three folders to check. from which i had to remove all custom maps. 1 /mydocs/other arma /deano/mpmissions.( remove and place in other folder or del 2/mydocs/other arma /deano/saved/mpmissions 3/myprogs bohemia/arma/mpmissions (only remove custom missions/they will be the pbo version of te same missions you delled from the other two, better to back these up incase you del an original mission as a final thing got to your profile and turn down the view distance manually to 1200 if its at a massive 10000. why does it work/will the change of view distance alone = same fix.? will it work for you ?. i have no idea, this is just what worked for me. as always i recomend you back up all things. guerilla -MCY- 0 Posted December 17, 2006 @jwflowersii, i've allmost the same system as you but i have no soundcard, so i'm using the onboard sfx card of the evga sli 680i board. Do you have a sound fx card or are you using aswell the onboard system. i'm having a DUO6700 and also the 8800GTX with 4 gigs ram etc and i'm crashing as you in multiplayer after 5-20 mins usually. As i've have the latest drivers i think it could be my missing soundcard. have to check this later with a external sound fx card.
jwflowersii 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Actually, I just disabled my Creative X-Fi sound card and it finally fired up. I haven't had the time to play yet, but at least it's firing up now. I'll have to give it a try shortly and I'll let you know. P.S. Why so many problems with one of the most popular sound cards?
DaSquade 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Well there is a known problem with the Xfi cards (well actually a problem wit the chipset drivers of nvidia and nvidia is looking into it). Not sure if this is the case with other (older) mobo combination, but i know it was a problem with the latest 680i Evga mobo's . I would suggest to check some hardware forums regarding the latest updates (afaik there was a temp fix for the Evga boards around). This is the price you pay for latest hardware -> beta tester (sounds familiar doesn't it ). Anyway, hope they indeed look into this as i'm also looking for new (latest) hardware and these issues are the things that hold me back (appart from pre-order status). Good luck . guerilla -MCY- 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Here's a description of the onboard card: Onboard sound on the EVGA 680i-SLI is provided by a Realtek ALC882 CODEC. Realtek is popular among motherboard manufacturers, for making high-quality onboard sound at a low cost inclusion. The onboard sound fully supports the HDA (High Definition Audio) standard and EAX 2.0 (Note, that due to Creative Lab's licensing agreements only 2.0 is supported by non-CL sound cards). HDA support brings native 7.1 surround sound support to the motherboard, and support for multiple audio streams at the same time. Realtek is by no means my favorite sound solution, but most users will most likely be satisfied with its sound reproduction.

evilnate 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I had the same problem. After many hours of troubleshooting I found that the problem was related to a software conflict with my WIFI software. I suggest that all of you try to launch ARMA while not loading other progs in memory (WIFI software, VIRUS sw). Go into msconfig and prevent most non-windows progs from loading, reboot computer then try launching game again.
Toeter 0 Posted December 19, 2006 I had the same problem. Put your xfi card on game mode. if it is in music mode or other mode it will not use EAX. since eax is enabled in ARMA somehow it wont work / start without. Greetz Toeter
FrostyFlake 0 Posted December 20, 2006 It should load EAX in all the other modes as mine does in every other game i play.. I also have had this problem If you go into your My Documents folder and delete your ArmA profile the game will load up again... I will also try the game mode to see if it works
