DUX0726 0 Posted December 31, 2006 As mentioned earlier in a previous thread, the kneepads that the S.Sahrani wear are the cheap, soft, soccer/football type--dyed to O.D. Green. They are probably self-provided at that, so not every soldier would have them. The training arm of the former "School of the Americas" provides training. They may have come from British roots but they have been under the sway of America for the last 50+ years. Only ceremonial ties to the U.K. exist at this point in time I would imagine. All practical doctrine and financial support would be provided by the U.S.
j w 0 Posted December 31, 2006 "Hey, [weapons are] a toolbox, you just put the tools in that you need for the job" -- "Sam" (Robert de Niro's character in "Ronin") He says that weapons are tools, and that he chooses the right tools for the job. Not that they're a toolbox
icehollow 0 Posted January 1, 2007 concerning the issue of 'G36 being too high-tech/upper-market' for SS army : i don't agree IMO , the G36 makes perfect sense. they are SS's special unit / the royal gaurd after all , most nation's drop a bit more cash for their special units/special forces. not just that , but take a look at some of the nations employing the G36 as a standard issue weapon... what i mean to say is , some of those nation's aren't packing that much money. BTW , i think you'll find that BIS just gave the Royal units G36s as a quick solution to forseen "WTFBBQ!!1111 WAI NO G36!11!?" .
