Enemy LOS needs fixin'

Enemy Line of Sight needs to be fixed in a future patch...

On pretty much every map the enemy can see through bushes and trees and whatnot... the Secondary mission in which you have to protect the engineers is very difficult, because a couple of enemies lie behind the little patch of trees as bushes next to the camp just shooting straight through, it's impossible to see them (I know where they are, cause I can hear them and see tracers right before they shoot me in the face). Only way to survive is to either spam the entire area with grenades, or run around (if you run around you will be killed by other soldiers)

Actually i found that one not too hard, right at the beginning i placed my soldiers around the camp in the direction of the attack and set them to stealth.

They engaged all enemys i think we had 1-2 losses.

But yes the x-ray vision enemy is bit annoying...

Agree with that, the AI simply has way to good eyes.

As I stated in THIS posting before, they always know where you are as soon as they notice something is odd. They can see in the dark w/o nightvision and spot you at 100 Meters in distance in the middle of the night.

And whats most rediculous: They spot you when you trigger a remote bomb.

I really loved that Special Forces Missions in OFP, hiding in bushes

and praying that the crew of the T80 passing by didn't see you.

In ArmA you are always screwed when being that close to a tank.

I LOVE this game. But.......

AI enemy detection skills, and AI accuracy are way too good.

IMO, this is the #1 issue with the playablity of the game.

BIS: Please don't make us wait for a great mod team like BAS to produce "High Dispersion" magazines.

The game would be much more playable for a wider audience if there was a player configurable setting controlling speed of detection and accuracy.

As it stands now, the game is OK for me and other diehard OFP and military sim folks, but casual gamers will be too frustrated. Make this skill player configurable, and server host configurable, then diehard sim folks can play it hard, and the casual folks can play it fun.

This should be separate from general skill setting, as we want enemies that are skilled at using cover, path finding, suppressing, flanking, etc..., BUT we don't want to always be dropped immediately by a guy 200 meters away behind a bush.

i agree, ai needs to be better, but there is a partial workaround which did work as i played the pmc campaign:

in your armaprofile search for

precisionFriendly=0.500000;

precisionEnemy=0.350000;

and adjust to your likings. these are settings i used and it was posted before here in the forum. firefights take longer as shooting precision drops.
