Never Ending Missions?

Recommended Posts

Second time this has happened in two different missions!

The mission just refuses to end or move on. In the first case in which we were supposed to clear a town of all enemies, eventually everyone was dead and the commander told me to move to a certain position... So I moved there, and what happens? Absolutely nothing. The commander sits there and does nothing... I fast forward the time. Nothing. I had to restart the mission and this time the 2nd objective actually got activated.

So I thought it was a fluke. Now I'm on this night mission, battle of Somato or something... I'm on the LAST objective which is to take out the enemies in a base and destroy the base. Well I've been in the base for a good hour, I destroyed absolutely everything with a T72 except for the flagpole which cannot be destroyed apparently. All of my team mates managed to get themselves killed like idiots and I am just wandering around this empty base aimlessly. WTF DO I DO???

It's so frusterating... You spent all that time on the mission, and now you are on the very last objective, but the mission won't complete.

What is going on? Are the enemies hiding or something? I looked everywhere in the base, everyone is dead. I don't understand it.

This is only my 2nd day playing the game and this crap is already ruining the game!

You should have a mod move this topic, there is supposed to be no discussion of official missions in the ArmA General forum. You don't want to give any spoilers to people who don't own the game already.

Not a spoiler.

I have found that some times if you dump you weapon and pickup a different on this happens to me as well. Try using the weapon you start with for the whole mission if you are not currently doing so when these little hangups happen.

Same here. I really hoped that these dead ends as a result of untriggered scripts would be a thing of the past. Seriously! Enhancing the graphics should have had the least priority during the making of this game. These script problems have been a big issue of Operation Flashpoint already. But what happens with Armed Assault? The same 5 year old bugs all over again. But hey, at least now we have wiggling grass, depth of field, bees and butterflies to look at, so that we can pass the time while being stuck once again.

I haven't even started the campaign yet, and ran into the problem twice already in two of the single missions (the Alligator mission, and the Command mission with the raid on the city).

If you can't be arsed to fix the script system, at least make the mission objectives more specific and less ambiguous, so that the player stands a better chance of actually triggering the scripts. And having to hunt down the last survivor of an enemy unit in mission areas as huge as this, with literally hundreds of nooks and crannies for AI soldiers to hide (or get stuck) in, just so that the mission continues isn't my idea of fun either. Why don't the missions go on, once the player's team obviously was victorious? Victory isn't just achieved by the complete extermination of the opponent. Please, get rid of these paper chase triggers that require the player to search forever for the last remaining enemy.

SPOILER END

Oh, and during the first few seconds of the mission Armed Assault's sound system went competely bananas. Most sounds just disappeared and were never heard again, and my machine gun talked once in a while. That's right. Instead of "Dadadadadada" it made "One, One, One, One, One, One" or "E..E...E...E...E..E...Engage!" What's the deal? Did this game have ANY kind of quality control? For exampe letting the mission be played by people who didn't know exactly what to do, to trigger the next script.

Sorry for ranting, but I just spent 42€ of my hard earned money on this game, and I'm thinking: I should have waited for the GOTY-Edition of ArmA including two add ons for 10€ total. If you don't put the full effort into a game, I shouldn't put the full money into the game either. But alas, it's too late now. I can't give it back. But I've learned my lesson for the future.
