Laser designator

Has anyone tried out the laser designator?

A small bug report first:

It seems as if the laser designator does not have any model. The soldier holding it just uses the AT animation but the laser designator is not there.

Anyway. I wanted to try out the laser designator with the Harrier GBU.

I pointed the laser dot at a tank.

The Harrier pilot says "new laser dot target" (means the laser designator is working! )

I order him to attack the target but it does not happen.

This worked quite well in OFP with A10 GBU.

in ofp the best way was to tell the ai to target the laser designator not attack.

How does the laser designator work?

Well it designates a target.

Try to use the command "fire" i guess it's 3-3, because with target he will only aim at it and wait until you give him the order to shoot. Quite useful actually for an ambush or something likely.

Sorry, it seems I wasn't articulate. I mean how do you use them in the mission editor?

I could be wrong, but it seems that the Harrier AI simply dosn't attack targets.

No matter what I've tried to get it to attack something, they just won't.

And along the same lines of a missing laser designator model in 1st person view, there is no 1st person Javelin either...although the missile works fine when you fire it.

I gueess you are right with both of your statements.

The Javelin has no sight and the animation does not fit.

The Harrier does not attack even without the designator.
