Windows XP,SB live 5.1,OFP Pops and crackles

Recommended Posts

I have a soundblaster Live 5.1 gamer . I get a crackling in the game when im in Vehicles and copters . Sometime going to 1st person then to 3rd person will get rid of the cracks and pops .

I have been contacting soundblaster ( hold time over an hour ) ,Microsoft, MSI , and OFP .I took my Motherboard back , I traded in my memory for 2 identical sticks of Kingston 256 ddr ram . I reformated in Fat 32 and NTSB .The only thing not replaced in my computer is the soundcard . ( which runs fine in all other games ).This time i downloaded the SB XP drivers and not the SB Card driver update at microsoft . This is allowing the cracks and pops to go away after i switch the views . ( THis is in some Veh and maps ) I afraid to download the drivers at microsoft now .hehe

ANY ideas ?

There have been a fair few threads about this in the Troubleshooting forum over the last week or so, you'll find answers in there if you search for them smile.gif

Rowdy, I've got 100% the same problem. The only way to get rid of the crackling is to reduce HW acceleration level of the SB Live (somewhere in the sound configuration panel of WinXP) or to turn off HW and/or EAX ingame (restart the game to make the changes take effect)

Sorry but that's not quite correct, it is one possible solution, but not the only one, doing that didn't remove the crackling for me, doubling the PCI Latency Setting to 64 (as I've mentioned in a few "crackling" threads on here) is what resolved the issue smile.gif

Changing the latency didn't fix the prob on my system and since he appears to be having 100% the same problem, the solution might be the same.
