Adding a window to an existing wall

Ok folks, here is my problem.

I'm trying to model a propper house, I do have several models , each of them are ready for texturing. smile_o.gif

The modelling is absolutly no problem but texturing is, a major problem crazy_o.gif

I tried nearly everything but couldn't find a solution.

here we go:

I did create a simple "wall" and now I am starting to texture it.

Now I want to add a window without editing the face again.

Like this :

I just want to add the window texture at the spot I "selected" in the LOD, but o2 is nice and creates a "wall" like this one.

My question is : It possible to add a texture to a texture without remodeling the model, or using a 3rd part software like Photoshop?

It would be possible in case you want to add a closed

window without transparency (if ya know what i mean).

Then you could just put a new face maybe 0.001 infront

of the wall like i did here with the carpet:

But in your case you need to delete the face of the wall,

add the window face and rebuild your wall face around

the window and the door.

But imho if you do that more than once, you will find out

that this is one of the more less complicated things to do

when adding details afterwards onto buildings. wink_o.gif

yep. if you need a window, you should make it in the 3d model, because it's better that with a plane with a texture. And with a 3D window you have relief, and it's more realistic:

if you need some help, send me a pm wink_o.gif all the people like the tanks, infantry etc, but it's really hard to make a building, and without them no games.

(sorry for my english)

i would just do it in o2... its not a big deal...

select a face on your wall, click background from face (so u got it ready to be remapped)

delete the wall faces but keep the vertex

add your window model

redo your wall model around it

select your wall faces and map it again using your background...

select the face you used for the window, open the window texture and click "fit background to face" then map.

as you have already guessed from what hapened in your window adding attempt, you can only have one texture per face, so everytime you want to add something you either add it to the texture or add some extra faces for it.

its much better to have a 3d window in the first lod anyway...

hint : visualize your model before starting it. Better one, take more vertex than necessary, and merge ... or not, it's up to you...

HO, and texturing every house take more hard disk space than little ones well assigned...
