gerasmus 0 Posted August 12, 2006 I've installed Flashpoint GOTY edition, patched from 1.85 ==> v1.96 , try to start the game after which I get error below: CreateVertexBuffer (static, separate) failed 8876017c Game used to run fine then stopped working. I didn't make any changes as far I could remember. All my other games & demos run perfect. I launch Flashpoint or launch via the FinMod launcher, then load screen displays and game loads from hard disk, then loading hangs with black screen after which I'm returned to Windows screen. None of my PCs processes are affected by any of this, machine runs fine. OS: Windows XP with SP2 and patched to the brim. CPU: AMD 64 3000+ (Venice core) RAM: 2Gb PC3200 (4x512mb Micron) VGA: ATI Radeon X800GT with Forceware drivers, v8.253.0.0. Motherbord: ASUS A8N-E Any suggestions please ? I would like to play the (brilliant) 5 year old game but cant ! Help please !
456820 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Are you using DXDLL? Are you running -nomap and -nosplash in your shortcut? Are there any other mods/addons you are running?
gerasmus 0 Posted August 12, 2006 I'm using the standard settings. i've even tried to run the flashpointresistance.exe and still get same error. I haven't made any changes, selected mimimum settings on the pre-launch setup tool. I click launch game from the setup tool. I get the same problem happening when launching from the FinMod.exe Thanks,
Heatseeker 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Quote[/b] ]VGA: ATI Radeon X800GT with Forceware drivers, v8.253.0.0. Forceware drivers might not be the best for your card . Seriously now.. If you do a search you will find some threads about this, i had this problem for a while and thought it was related to video drivers and/or v-sync/refresh rate. It no longer happens but i cant point out what cured it . I can only sugest you to remove all addons, make a full clean install of OPFR and your graphics card drivers. gerasmus 0 Posted August 14, 2006 I'm about to give up running OPF again on this machine. I've downloaded the (latest) driver from the manufacturer website (Powercolor X800GT, 256Mb Ram). Uninstalled the (latest) ATI catalyst drivers (downloaded from ATI.com), rebooted, installed manufacturer drivers (8.241.0.0, Dated: 21/03/2006), rebooted, still the same error. I've set all Anisotropic and AA to be app managed.. made no difference. BraTTy 0 Posted August 14, 2006 And you tried the -nomap in the OFP shortcut? Like 456820 asked?
Placebo 28 Posted August 14, 2006 Had you altered view distance / terrain detail settings? Setting them too high for your system can cause this error. Search for threads containing solutions.
j w 0 Posted August 14, 2006 If you think that drivers can cause it, test Omega Drivers. Their said to boost your GFX... And works good for me (URL updated, there weren't supposed to be a "-" )
gerasmus 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Would you please post me the website address for omega drivers again please ? Seems like the link you gave goes to some advertising website.
gerasmus 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Ive set details levels to absolute minimum, and used -nomap.. no luck yet. Sigh, FLASHPOINT, I NEED you !!
BraTTy 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Does OFP work O.K. before you install Finmod ? Something may be corrupt with your installation, or getting corrupt when installing
gerasmus 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Thanks to all who replied. I followed all your suggestions I installed the omega driver (offcourz I first uninstalled my previous drivers, rebooted, etc) but still got same errors. When installing Flashpoint (G.O.T.Y. edition) I let install completed, I install the v185 ==> V196 official patch. I've uninstall/reinstalled several times. Maybe some magical moment will happen so that I can run Flashpoint again but for the time being I can only hope that Bohemia would release ArmedAssault soon.
