PBO Making Assistance

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm on the verge of completing my first mission and I'm currently in the process of editing my briefing, inserting hyperlinks, all that jazz.

I've downloaded a utility to make PBO's off of OFP Info and it seems to have worked. It took my mission folder and compressed it all into a shiny "Mission.PBO" file. I then proudly took my new PBO file, pasted it into the missions folder, started up OFP, selected it, and nothing happened. Literally, it's like I pressed the cancel button at the bottom because it just closed the missions window and took me back to the main OFP screen. You would think I'd be done by now but now I've run into this obstacle.

Secondly, every other mission has a nice name. "Convoys". "Facile Ground". Etc. In the mission folder my mission is named "Krieg.Eden.Pbo" or some ugly and unappealing name like that. How do I make it so it displays its actual title like it should?

The only thing that semi works right now is my overview. It is visible but the picture I selected isn't working. I know I probably didn't resize it properly but I can try to figure that out on my own, it's not a big deal and if it becomes one I'll ask again. The big problems are the ones I listed above.

well you dont need an external pbo tool. smile_o.gif

in the edtior just do save as singeplayer or multiplayer mission

and ofp will make a pbo for you in "missions" or "mpmissions"

Ah, thank you that makes things easier :-). Unfortunately though it still doesn't work. I exported it to single player missions and A) it still has a funky name and B) most importantly it won't open. I click "Open" and it just goes right back to the main OFP screen. I just can't figure out why it's doing that.

About A): in 'Intel' section, where the date, time, weather and so on is set, insert the name of your mission in the 'Briefing - Name' part.

About B): I'm guessing that you have an empty folder (without a .pbo file inside it) in your Missions folder, that's why goes back to the main OFP screen when you click on 'Open'. You don't need to compress or paste anything, just go in 'Mission Editor', open your mission, then click on 'Save', then click on 'User Mission', go down to the 'Export to Single Missions', then klick on 'Save', and that's it, job done, the mission (.pbo file) should be in your Missions folder and listed in the 'Single Mission' menu.

About the picture in the Overview: yes, not (re)sizing it properly is the most common mistake here. The size of the picture must in the power of two (try with 512 x 256 pixels).

Here's a copy of my Overview script.

<!-- Overview Title -->

<br><h2 align="center"><a name="Main">

Blah

</a></h2>

<!-- Overview Picture -->

<p align="center"><img src="1941 USSR.jpg" width="512" height="256"></p>

<!-- Overview Text -->

<p><br>

Blah blahbitty blah blah...

<br></p>

</body>

</html>

And the picture is just completely not working at all. I can access the mission, the overview text is all present. But it just won't show any picture try as I might.

Sorry for not being completely understandable up there; not in the Briefing, but the original size of the picture (.jpg) must be in a power of two.
