Image Uploader

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Sorry if this isn't the correct place to have this, and I leave myself fully open to attack from admins if I have indeed posted this in the wrong place.

I am trying to find out how I can make a webpage where people can upload images to my webserver. I want people to be able to upload OFP screenshots to the Rifles webserver without having the FTP details, you see, but I am not sure how I can do this.

Imageshack and the like are a no go, as this needs to be able to work where I work, and public things like that seem to be blocked. Highly annoying...

Cheers in advance for the help.

Chris

if you have a webserver which has php and mysql there are great gallery programs avaible they are easy to use for you and the visitors.

here is one of my favorite

http://gallery.menalto.com/

also if you want a full site like news, forums etc. and not just gallery

you can use phpnuke,e107 etc.

but of course these are only php capable servers. wink_o.gif

is the control panel of your webspace a "cpanel" by any chance? if yes, check if you got access to "fantastico" in your cpanel. fantastico let's you install all sorts of things.

If not you will have to install it manually.

You will need access to "MySQL" over your webspace to create a d-base. then you simply upload one of the following galleries to your webspace and point your browser to the "install.php" of the gallery.

4images gallery:

(german/english site)

coppermine gallery:

http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php

(looks and feels a bit like phpBB)

Menalto gallery:

http://gallery.menalto.com/

(as posted above...)

Have fun....

Thanks for the help with that. Will this mean it works in the same way as imageshack? So people upload the pictures onto the space and it gives them the link to put in when they post the picture on forums?

yes they can link them but i'm not sure the gallery gives it automatically the direct link but you can learn the link from the image.
