COBRA EATER 0 Posted August 4, 2006 I have tried to connect using the Remote option, to Spitshine's computer, running as a server, and hve not been succesful. Itried to connect to +G's server, remotely also, and was unsucesful, while it was up and running. I Have my Zone Alarm fire wall set to game mode, this opens all ports, with full permissions for Flashpoint. I also had my router set to a DMZ so there was no firewall there either. I made sure that Spitshine had his fire wall open for Flashpoint also. After not being able to connect to his IP, we tried using my computer as the server, But no joy. The way I was creating the server was, open multiplayer, implementation was tried as Sockets first, then as Direct play. tried with and with out a pasword. I was using the new server option from the internet screen. I'm running GTOY edition, patched to V1.96, he is running Resistance, patched to V1.96, no mods or addons as we were going to play a BIS Co-op mission. I was waiting at the soldier select screen and Spitshine was unable to connect even after like 4 min, He has cable, and I have DSL 1.5MB down, and 768kb up. I'm pretty sure that my default port is 2302, this is the number we were using for the port. So here is my question, we can bolth join any listed internet game, with no troubles, I have only tried Game Spy. How can we create and connect to a server so that we dont have to leave home to Have a LAN party kind of connection, over the internet. Thanks in advance for all the Help. :banghead: P.S. I've been searching forums for about a week now trying to figure this out but no joy.
deanosbeano 0 Posted August 4, 2006 you could try Hamachi or battlelan both aare for hosting lan games over i.p
Nathan Bedford Forrest 0 Posted August 5, 2006 Hamachi is better. BattleLan requires port forwarding, which I never understood
rundll.exe 12 Posted August 5, 2006 Hamachi solves all problems with routers/ports/firewalls etc. But I have the feeling that you seek for the "remote" option. Its in the gamespy screen, click it, and enter the IP of the server. this makes ofp connect directly to that server.

Razor -RS- 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Cobra Eater - does your router also act as a dhcp server?
COBRA EATER 0 Posted August 6, 2006 @ Aug. 05 2006,23:45)]Cobra Eater - does your router also act as a dhcp server? pardon my french as I'm still a NOOB what the hell does that mean? **EDIT** Posted: Aug. 05 2006,23:56 One other possibility - if your router also acting as a dhcp server. If so, does the IP address you are giving your friend begin with 192.168.1.x? That IP address range is not routable over the internet, it is for internal networks only. You would need to access your router setup function using your preferred web browser, then look at your routers status page to find your true IP address - the one you received from your ISP. That is the IP address you should pass on to your friend to use to connect to your OFP server. if so then no I gave him my computer ip as router was set up as a DMZ. and i have a static ip set up that i was able to find through looking up my connection properties, this is also the ip that shows up on web sites. ***EDIT*** think i found the solution here, as i was not entering my ip in the remote field first, might explain how eventhough I was creating the server, from internet,(by clicking new) why no one could see it. http://www.ofpbase.com/forums....iplayer
