Shadow NX 1 Posted August 1, 2006 Dunno if this is the right place to ask such stuff but i guess yes... if not please mods move this. A friend is makeing a mission atm where you assault a village... the problem is the OFP Ai refuses to fire when they are behind the original BIS sandbags. We tried lots of things but the Ai still refuses to fire. Anyone knows a solution for this or a pack that has similar sandbag elements in it?
mr burns 132 Posted August 1, 2006 Remember a script that made units go ready behind barricades (sandbags) as soon as enemy approached, form my memory (playtesting) they also fired at me during my advance, but as OFP goes...i´ve forgotten author and name of it. Also it´s so long ago i would´nt even swear that it works.. If anything comes to mind i´ll be back here
Fab. 0 Posted August 1, 2006 the problem is the AI wont fire over any editor placed object that is still alive... if your sandbags are placed on the island using wrptool or vizitor, then u wont have this problem. a solution to the sandbag problem is to modify the model so they dont get crushed when dammaged (no dammage) and change the config so they get dammage 1 on startup.. once u do that the AI shouldnt have any problems firing over it... Shinkansen 0 Posted August 1, 2006 You can place / camcreate invisible targets near the player position /sandbags and Ai will fire like hell.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted August 1, 2006 Just setdammage them to 1, should solve your problem... AFAIK there is an addon which does it for you, around... I still have it.

Messiah 2 Posted August 2, 2006 Just setdammage them to 1, should solve your problem... AFAIK there is an addon which does it for you, around... I still have it. cameron is right... just setdammage the sand bags to 1, the destroyed model isnt that different to the original, and the AI will fire over it happy as larry
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted August 2, 2006 LOL, didn't know BIS would pay homage to Command & Conquer's sandbag bug... or better yet, better rename the sandbag to sandbug...
Shadow NX 1 Posted August 2, 2006 Yes that was nice, hehe Building sandbags arounbd the base and noone will attack you in C&C @All Thanks for the great hints, will try that out later @Cameron What addon is this, got a link?
Jones -PL- 0 Posted August 4, 2006 I'm sure he meant AI Cover Pack. You can download it from here. Destroyed sandbugs [] don't give AI cover. And with this addon, it provides cover [also making AI shoot when sitting behind the sandbags] and some nice scripts for AI.
Messiah 2 Posted August 4, 2006 destroyed sandbags give cover, or at least in my experience... granted only to their knees or so, but its progress
Shadow NX 1 Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks a lot guys and especially Jones (PL)! These Sandbags work perfectly
456820 0 Posted August 5, 2006 ECP uses a new sandbag addon based on the original sandbag which has the destroyed model changed to the same as the normal model so it still looks the same and AI still fire over it. Not sure if it can be downloaded on its own though.
