lkavadas 0 Posted July 24, 2006 A group of us are toying with the idea of creating a BattleTech/MechWarrior mod using ArmA, but I had a few questions about the modding capabilties. I know that they are making it very easy to convert O:FP mods to ArmA, but I remember the old engine have a limitation which killed it for mod consideration before. Anyways, a few quick questions, any answers greatly appreciated. 1. Â Will the ArmA engine support bipedal locomotion with vehicles? Â Can I get a battlemech to walk? 2. Â Did they finally address the single firing point dilemma with this new engine? Â I saw some pics of a Blackhawk with two miniguns on it, but I don't want to jump the gun. If it CAN support multiple firing ports, what is the theoretical max limit that can be placed on a single vehicle? Most mechs have around five to seven firing points. 3. Â Does the ArmA support multiple independent damage tracking hitboxes on a single object (i.e. Can I have two arms, two legs, a cockpit/head, rear torso, and three torso sections on a mech all be damaged independently)? Â If so, what is the maximum number of independent damage locations allowed per vehicle? Any other information which anyone might find pertinent in regards to a Mechwarrior/BattleTech mod would be greatly appreciated. Â Thanks.

If so, what is the maximum number of independent damage locations allowed per vehicle? Umm, I bet you could do this in OFP already since they had different parts be able to be damaged Any other information which anyone might find pertinent in regards to a Mechwarrior/BattleTech mod would be greatly appreciated. simba 0 Posted July 24, 2006 Quote[/b] ] Will the ArmA engine support bipedal locomotion with vehicles? Can I get a battlemech to walk? I doubt this gonna be totally supported , but since the soldiers have some kind of skeletal anims , I suppose making all sort of animals and robots will be easier than before. Quote[/b] ]2. However, I loved the Mechwarrior games and I'm looking forward to your mod! It would be cool to finally have a mechwarrior game where you can fight infantry. Well, with Classic BattleTech nearly dead and Mechwarrior: Dork Age being a complete failure, and with M$ canceling Mw5 and refusing to give up the BattleTech license, the only hope for a MechWarrior 5 rests with the player base and user mods. There are some good mods and games coming out though.

They confirmed the ability to have different sets of animations in an interview, and another member mentioned this will give the ability to make bipedal motions. As for the multifiring ports, yet again this was confirmed in an interview. The interviewed Dev jokingly suggested someone needs to make an old battleship with 10 guns. Sounds good, but we'll have to wait and see for a lot of the features in Arma, sneaky tight lipped devs
