Smartti 1 Posted June 3, 2006 DirectPlay is/was part of Microsoft's DirectX. In case of OFP, DirectPlay allows the use of OFP's built-in voice communication system. About possible differences in performance, I don't know. I've been fine with DP server for years now. It works good enough. Of course sockets is the choice for non-windows server platforms.
