Metal Heart 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Quote[/b] ]The "running" must be a joke. looks like a cartoon. I think it looks ok considering the stuff the soldier is carrying. Not that I've ever run with armored vest on but with camo suit, boots, helmet, rifle and a combat-belt or whatever it is called. Even if the junk weights less than say 15kg total, it's not like you will run like a professional runner in a spandex outfit and running shoes. I'd guess everyone will agree that the gun is too much in the view. The problem is that the character holds the gun in firing position all the time because of the cs-style aiming, not just when you're using sights. It also looks like you could do piruettes like in all the crappy fps games (like turn the character around 360 degrees ten times per second).
Randy 0 Posted May 31, 2006 I also hope that the animations are tweaked, yes many aspects so far are WIP, but you can never be too careful and it's best these concerns are voiced. The FPS view locked to the crosshair really bothers me, but that's apparently toggleable so I'll rest easier. Anyway my biggest concern is the 'cartoony' animations, I've never seen anybody ever run like that, soldier, civilian, fat guy, nobody.
bravo 6 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Don't know if we can use this thread for the secound video.. (no need to creat a new one, right?) Can the title of this thread be changed so people can comment about secound/future videos here? happy birthday video (24 mb) (2006/06/22) [00:00:30 min] -> Notice how smooth the game looks with all those units moving at same time.. [00:00:53 min] -> Noticed how natural the trees move when weather change. Also hear rain but can't see it. (rain might have different effect then OFP?) [00:01:35 min] -> Still looks laggy (not optimized yet) but as [00:00:30 min] looks smooth, all game might run smooth even with 2000 units? edit: as mentioned in other threads the "Frog-Run" is current everywhere! Hidden 0 Posted June 23, 2006 That video looks gorgeous. The soldiers look much better, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, the view distance ...
ThePredator 0 Posted June 24, 2006 I especially like the MOUT sequence. Looks really cool. I wish they had real wind effects in-game not just moving trees. Some game has to start using complete ballistics for the long range fanatics like me (would affect way more than just shooting, sound transportation, smoke etc) With such large numbers of combatants, I am really thinking of starting some clan for unconventional warfare. Imagine some LLRP or SOG-like operations behind enemy lines... (Sorry to hijack the thread with such things, I am into the UW for years, reading the book "SOG" at the moment) The view distance is amazing. Will everything be displayed over the distance? In OFP enemys were not shown even if the landscape was. Makes it hard to engage targets on long range with every asset you might think of.
