RAF Puma

Recommended Posts

A lot of people complained that my original Malvinas Puma wasn't up to scratch. Well a long time ago I downloaded the Frenchpoint one to see whether I could reskin that one. I didn't really fancy because the workload looked daunting.

About a week ago I figured, sod it, and had a go. Here's the result. There's much to sort out before it's ready to be released so for now it's just these pics.

Groovy, are you editing those pilots too?

We definightly need proper british pilots (although those look a bit weird :S ).

Looking forward to a release.

I assume you are doing 33 Squadron and 230 Squadron.

I would also like to see an unarmed Lynx if 1982: Flashpoint in the Falklands gave permission.

Do me a favour it's hard enough doing just the one.

Here are a couple of Damage texture pics.

I didn't think Army air crew used DPM, I thought they just wore standard green grobags like the RAF use

That's desert camo. Standard camo is just green, or at least all the AAC aircrew I've seen and spoken to were in plain green grobags

its still DPM... one more in the 'correct' colour then wink_o.gif

dpmpilot.jpg

from what i recollect, its a case of where they are deployed, situation, mission etc as to what getup they're going to use.

no need to shut up, looking more closely at that photo i posted, it appears to be a DPM smock - probably wearing it over his regular flight suit to keep warm (cant remember the context of the picture, i.e. where it was, besides HMS Ocean)

i was just saying that its not the case that they never wear DPM, but you're correct in saying that the olive green 'grow bag' is more common.

Fair enough lol

Never seen an AAC Puma armed with a cannon before though

The Army (Army Air Corps) and Navy (Fleet Air Arm) do not fly Puma, RAF do only.

Only a cabin-mounted 7.62mm machine gun can be fitted for use by the crew.

Messy, that aint HMS Ocean buddy... wink_o.gif Look at the ski ramp at the front! More likely to be Invincible or Illustrious. Ocean doesn't have the ski ramp (Or at least didnt last time I was on her!wink_o.gif.

Tankieboy is right, AAC and FAA don't fly Puma's usually although there have been a few Puma's which have been flown by FAA over the years.

AAC do usually wear totally green flight suits, but can sometimes also wear DPM. It all depends upon what they are flying, what kind of mission etc.

James mate, very good spot - i was quoting the MoD picture gallery where i got it from, but didnt take time to check it out myself... granted the same library confuses a CVRT Sultan as a Warrior whistle.gif

Here's the last of today's progression. There's six Pumas in all so one with a Tiger meet scheme isn't going to hurt. Plus I like doing it, it's fun. All by hand too.

I'm thinking maybe some squadron blurb on the fuselage somewhere. Then I'm gonna need help with the config, as always. I can do the textures but I can't do the paths and stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated in that field.
