-kelet0r 0 Posted February 26, 2006 I think skeletor has a completely different view on whats fun, for example his dream about "being able to drive around evading a helicopter", that's not the flashpoint atmosphere... In OFP if your driving around in a jeep and see a hind coming towards you, you do what any sane person would and get the darn out of that car and run for the nearest forest, bush, whatever. With an ingame example; just imageine what "Montignac Must Fall" would've been if there was say, a UAZ in Provins, your squad gets killed, you get in the UAZ and the hind starts chasing after you, but you make a harrowing escape while rockets explode all around you like in some lame Schwarzenegger movie. Point is though, Skeletor, there are tons of games with athmosphere like that, already on the market, play those. Go home Skeletor. "Point is though, Skeletor, there are tons of games with athmosphere like that, already on the market, play those" - if you can name one i'd like to hear it I keep coming back to OPF because it is still year later one of the greatest first person shooters ever made - because it was revolutionary in its day and I expect it to be equally revolutionary when Arma is released Quote[/b] ]With an ingame example; just imageine what "Montignac Must Fall" would've been if there was say, a UAZ in Provins, your squad gets killed, you get in the UAZ and the hind starts chasing after you, but you make a harrowing escape while rockets explode all around you like in some lame Schwarzenegger movie. but you could do that! have you never played the game? after montignac was one of the hardest levels in the game - even some of the last levels were not as tough - so its an excellent example For example in my playthroughs of that level i played it hardcore crawling and sprinting through the forests, i played for laughs making my getaway in the tractor or visiting the nearest town to grab a russian jeep, i killed enemies just to get LAW ammo to fight the various BMPs that were on the level, i went up on a hill with the sole purpose of M203ing entire squads, I went all counterstrike and ran around headshotting as many as possible at close range, i shot down my own helicopter , i saved a US squad and ran rampant with them, i ignored them and spent an hour with a russian sniper rifle, i ran around like a headless chicken avoiding the Hind and I had fun -something people seem to be unfamiliar with here thats what i want from Arma - no less and definitely more

I thought you were asking for the game to made easier and at times horribly unrealistic.
imported_bör 0 Posted February 26, 2006 if you want it like that, then, call of duty can be very realistic too if you mod it and play on hardcore setting. it's net code is great, you can use vehicles, multiple gunners, better graphics and the rest.what i'm getting at is that it would ruin the point of ofp or arma completely. even though i've not been in an army nor in a firefight ever, but i'm sure engagements are not very dramatic or cinematic. most of the time it would probably just be aim at a blob 300 meters away, shoot and see the blob fall. Do you know hardcore flight simulators? Falcon 4.0, IL2 Sturmovik? They're very very difficult to play on the hardest level. If you cannot cope with the hardest level, or if you just want to shoot down 50 Me109/MiGs you turn the realism/difficulty down. Does that [scalable option ruin these games? No, they're the best, most realistic hard core flight sims out there! Nobody in these communities tells you to buy Secret weapons over Normany, the most utter arcade crap flight game I know of, instead of turning the realism down. It's sad to see some of the OFP community being that elitist.
