Help OFP won't start if I surf or play other games

When I start my PC and want play OFP no problem everything ok but after I quit the game I can't start the game Than I must restart the game or if I surf on internet or play other games OFP won't start this error I get: cannot memory-map file 'campaigns/1985.pbo'

My system is AMD 1800+, 512MB Ram, G-Force 64MB, 120GH Hard Disk I don't get what the problem is?

This happens since patch 1.42 is it a bug in patch 1.42??

I had similar (but not quite the same) problems after downloading 1.42 I had to uninstall and reinstall everything then it worked again. I have stopped at v1.4 because I dont trust 1.42, I haven't had a problem since.

with me its the opposite 1.42 fixed my launching probs ....mine wouldnt launch on 1.40 unless i started the game immedietly after i booted up

You should really restart your computer before you start a game anyway, so you have the max amount of resources available. Running more than one big game in a single session isn't really a good thing.

What can I do to fix it I have updated my video card o and I use direct-x 8.1 can that be the porblem?

Ultimately my computer was runnign like a pile of junk. I've just completed a reformat and clean install which was a major headache.

I loaded the latest drivers for my geforce card, the latest via4in1 patch and directx 8 now my computer has never rub so good.

I think the problems were caused by all the other games i installed and uninstalled over the period of 13 - 14 months.

Now its the best its ever been, I know its a sledge hammer to crack a walnut but i'm glad i did it.
