Heatseeker 0 Posted December 31, 2005 You cant buy that card, you would need a whole new PC .
Mr_Tea 0 Posted December 31, 2005 PCI Express is needed for that card. When you don`t have an newer mainboard, you will have an AGP Port.

456820 0 Posted December 31, 2005 well he says "Does that mean it will work in an AGP port ?" oh and We have PCI ports and an AGP port so will it work ? Im a bit of a computer noob and my Brothers just a pain in the arse and doesnt like helping me so this may be dificult
Heatseeker 0 Posted December 31, 2005 You have one agp slot for your AGP graphics card and pci slots for other devices such has soundcard, network cards, dialup modems and stuff like that, to plug a card like that you would need a PCI-E slot wich is slowly replacing AGP at the moment wich means a new motherboard and compatible HW. Also to actually use such a high end video card you need a PC that doesnt bottleneck it. If you just want to play OPFR you dont need anything like that. Now go and slap you brother in the back of the head .
456820 0 Posted December 31, 2005 hey thanks for that info ill tell my bro then slap him in the back of the head Also i dont just want the card for OFP i want it for other games which didnt work with my Geforece 2 like Brothers in Arms and other games
Mr_Tea 0 Posted December 31, 2005 I bought a GeForce 6600 GT AGP Card with 128 MB Ram for 140 €, it will work in your PC too. When you order a new card, keep in mind, for your current mainboard it must be an AGP Card. F.E.A.R. works fine with my card too. There is an XFX 128MB GeForce 6600 GT AGP @ e-bug.de for 157,32 €, this would work too.
456820 0 Posted December 31, 2005 hey Well i think were looking for a 256Mb card so if you know any which iwll work please do post and were looking into those you suggested Im not really sure whats going on because my bro isnt explaing all that well Just if you know of any cards with 256Mb then please post and also post other incase there are no 256mb ones cheers
Mr_Tea 0 Posted December 31, 2005 There are not much AGP cards with 256 MB, and they are much more expensive. I`ve seen cards that costs 150 € with 128 MB, and 250 € with 256 MB. I have also found cards, that have 256 MB , but have slower GPU and RAM.
456820 0 Posted December 31, 2005 well 250(Damn doesnt seem to be a euros sign on this keyboard) well anyway 25oeuros in pounds says its about 170 and the other card was 220 in pounds thats a lot cheaper So maybe a link please Also if i had a graphics card for an AGP if i were to later update to PCI-E would i still be able to use the AGP card or would it become useless with that motherboard ? Mr_Tea 0 Posted December 31, 2005 No, AGP is not compatible with PCI E. When you buy an AGP card now, there is no way you can use it, after upgrading to an PCI E mainboard. Maybe you should think about building an new PC. Edit: All i`ve found are tons of PCI E cards with 256 MB, and AGP cards with 256 MB but older GPU type. I don`t make much sense to buy an older card only for it`s bigger Ram. Btw. Troubleshooting is for OFP related problems only. Next time use the "OFFTOPIC" thread please. Heatseeker 0 Posted January 2, 2006 There is an XFX 128MB GeForce 6600 GT AGP @ e-bug.de for 157,32 €, this would work too. Well, i have one and i can tell you that i can run Doom3, Far Cry, GTASA, R6 RvS, even old GR but definetly not flashpoint, i have torned my PC upside down and come to the conclusion that it just wont happen so if flashpoint is a priority i strongly advise against this card, i gave up .
