LoTekK 0 Posted December 9, 2005 Novalogic busted for pirated software Quote[/b] ]NovaLogic...was fined $153,500 after an audit found it had unlicensed copies of Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, FileMaker, Macromedia, Microsoft and Symantec software on its computers. You'd think they'd have the common sense to obtain their software legally. Especially since they develop software themselves. Quote[/b] ]"NovaLogic regrets the inadvertent violation of license agreements" Riiight. One item of software, maybe. Two, three, even. But look at the list of software products! I don't know how the hell they got away with such a paltry fine.
Messiah 2 Posted December 9, 2005 although, i'd be fairly safe in assuming (after researching this topic widely for an article i've been writing) that the number of adobe products in use, nowhere near matches the number of legal liscences... granted, who'd expect such a large firm like novalogic to be so stupid. havocsquad 0 Posted December 9, 2005 How often does Companies such as microsoft or other big vendors make license checks, once a year, twice a year? Just curious if anyone knew. Later, Havoc.
EiZei 0 Posted December 9, 2005 How often does Companies such as microsoft or other big vendors make license checks, once a year, twice a year?Just curious if anyone knew. Later, Havoc. I think they mostly rely on their sales figures and those "bust your boss, get five thousand dollars" informant deals.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted December 9, 2005 I heard a very amusing stroy about licenses a few weeks ago. Those companies producing city maps often draw tiny non-existing roads into their maps to check, whether other competitors simply copy their work. During the last years this has triggered off a lot of lawsuits in the industry.
Heatseeker 0 Posted December 9, 2005 How embarassing.. if you play some of their latest games or game demos and do some math its not really surprising, i once respected this company and expected good games from them but they went completely downhill, NL is dead .
