Buy one from the shops, local toy store.

In america they dubbed over the Assie voices with yankie voises, talk about ruining a film

That was because they thought in America that people wouldn't understand the Aussie voices LOL.

Didn't they add subtitles to Trainspotting so the Americans could understand it? smile.gif

Yep, they added subtitles to trainspoting and The full monty.

I suppost its not as bad as dubbing over though.

Do they have neighbours in america(the TV program)?

I seriously doubt it. They got enough shithouse soapies there with out buying them off oz.

That's really funny about mad max and trainspotting though.

Why buy a toy when I can go to an aboriginal arts shop here in town and get a real one, or even make one myself?

In the USA "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" was released as "Harry Potter and the SORCEROR'S Stone", because they didn't think enough Americans would know what a philiospher was.....bizarre, huh?

Silly, but unless the Harry Potter books actually explain the historical background (I haven't seen the movie or read the book so I don't know) I'd be surprised if many people outside America know what "the Philosopher's Stone" is.

As for Mad Max, I just got the new region-1 DVD so I'm looking forward to finally seeing the movie with the American soundtrack I've heard so much about!

That's exactly what I hate about america. They can't appreciate something for what it is, in this case a legendary movie, they always think they can, and should, make it better.

JUST LET IT BE!!!

No offence meant unless I'm directing this at you wink.gif, as I mean the americans who actually make these decisions and do this shit.

It's the magical object which the alchemists believed would turn lead into gold, and, if I remember correctly, would also give the secret of eternal life.

I got mad max: the road warrior on DVD last week because it hasnt been shown on TV for about 6 years.

I dont like the thunderdome and I cant remember much of the first one.

Road warrior was the best of them.

There is a scrpt for a 4th mad max film and it could star mel gibson again but the script was finnished in 1998 and they havent started filming mad.gif

OK, I admit not everyone is the keen mythology/occultism reader I was when I was younger, so I know not a lot of people may know what a "philosopher's stone" is...BUT....as far as I understand, the name change wasn't because they thought people wouldn't know what a "philosopher's stone" was, but rather they wouldn't know what a "philosopher" was...hence the change to "sorceror's stone". (I mean what the hell is a sorceror's stone anyway?).

I dont think this is necessarily a poor reflection on the intellect of the American public, but more of a reflection on what idiots avertising gurus can be.
