Lock ups with my upgraded pc

Recommended Posts

A while ago I upgraded my pc substantially, hoping it would have a major effect on the OFP performance too.

But now in the mission editor, I am experiencing reasonable frequent lock ups. The effect on the performance isnt that big as I had expected. Still cant play Nogova lagless on a viewdistance of more than 1000/1100.(small firefights)

Maybe somebody has an idea about the most suitable settings I could use for that second problem?

My specs :

AMD 2800

Geforce FX 5700 256 MB

1024 MB RAM

DirectX 9.0

I'd try running something like PassMark BurnInTest to stress-test your system (CPU, RAM, bus, cooling) and make sure it's up to snuff -- a stable system should be able to run BurnInTest indefinitely without lockups or crashes.

OFP is the only game that ever locks up, so I dont know if the burnintest will do it? Any free versions of it btw?

OFP is a very CPU intensive game compared to most.

Mister Frag is right...I suspect dust in your cpu fan/heatsink

And 1100 view distance isn't bad for a fx5700,don't expect much, its not even half the horsepower of a common raedon 9800pro

PassMark BurnInTest isn't free, but you can use it for 30 days to evaluate.

There are other tools that are free that have some of the same functionality. MemTest86 can perform exhaustive checks of your RAM, and CPU Burnin can check the CPU, bus, and cooling.
