National Training Center Map

Recommended Posts

I was wonderin if there were any good maps that resemble the US's Ft Irwin/National Training Center. The closest thing that I could find was the training area map by LLW. Any ideas??? welcome.gif

Well was a few islands that came really close. I'll have to recheck them. I have one of the actual maps hanging on my wall having been OPFOR there a few dozen times. I had started one them got recruited into another mod and stopped working on it.

@Bobcatt

A few of my buddies over in the LdSH (RC) said that it was pretty cool down there. I think it would be cool if there were those OPFOR Surogate Vehicles that they talk about. These things are M113A3 chassis with a M2A1 turret and visual modifications to make them look like BMP-2s. Anyhow, I guys I kinda got off topic.

Yes, one of the earliest user-made terrains is West Leach Spring, which is a small portion of the NTC, but it is quite bare, though the terrain is VERY good.

I think you can find it in the island/terrain addons at http://www.ofp.info/

VISMODS, based of the M1 M60, M551, and M113. We were still using real BMPs and M84 T72 tanks there .

I'd totally dig an NTC map - I spent a summer there with the Opfor. Great fun. I was in an assault that overran the blufor TOC. I got to search the brigade commander's dead body. smile_o.gif

I tried West Leach Spring 2, and it's not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something along the lines of LLW's Leusderheide Islad, but desert and more hills. I know that NTC has mountains in most of it, with tight valleys that are excellent ambush positions.

It would also be cool to get VISMODS, but regular BMPs would work well enough. There's also a MILES scripts that could come in handy-- though it does not work too well with tank and mechanized warfare.

well considering OPFOR will use real comblock vehicles when aviable the VISMOds only round out the numbers needed for most Soviet-style actions, I drove a real BMP-1 a lot of the time there or a BTR70. Mostly diffcult keeping said equipment operational in te rugged enviroment, that and the M551 Sheridain lead to covering about seven vehicles. Due to is size made using it as Red armor great.
