madmedic 0 Posted September 5, 2005 I have gone on a crusade to try to figure out why larger helicopters are not able to land nicely using Ysniper's scripts. Well, I started with the locigal solution (or so I thought)...I took a big helicopter, and made it's mass the same as the BAS Blackhawks (because the BAS choppers land nicely)...It didnt work, the big chopper still came in too fast, and went sideways. So I gave it all the same values in its config.cpp (max speed, formation, braking distance, ect. ect) Basically...when I was finished...the big chopper was a BAS BLACKHAWK that just looked like a big chopper. BUT IT STILL DOES NOT LAND LIKE THE BAS CHOPPERS Does ANYBODY have any idea what I could be missing?...Anybody know what makes the game engine recognize the big choppers as "big"? why do they insist on getting sideways when they slow down? (even when just going from normal speed, to a limited speed waypoint)

(even when just going from normal speed, to a limited speed waypoint) Its about the centre of gravity in the Geo Lod relative to the rotor hub. You need to distribute the weight evenly around the Vrtule axis. Also you may wan to break up you geo lod into several components - this makes it easier to tune the handling.
