Civilian 0 Posted January 17, 2002 I tried every trick from troubleshooting FAQ and AVon Lady's FAQ. I have updated ASPI layer. Doesn't work. I have reinstaled OFP. Doesn't work. I have reinstaled Win98 and OFP. Doesn't work. I have changed BIOS settings. Doesn't work. Few hours lost. I don't have my new BRDM's and Bradley's. What else can I do ? My 2 copies od OFP_Addon_Pack3.exe doesn't work. It says the same all the time "Insert correct CD ...." Any other ideas ? Best Regards Piotr. PS. I have a Polish version 1.20 on an original CD. I have 1.40 Polish upgrade (that works). I have Duron 800, VIA chipset (everything is done just like FAQ says), 256 MB RAM.
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted January 17, 2002 Wow, it looks like a song... can i try Risin' up, back on the street Took my time, took my chances Went the distance Now I'm back on my feet Just a man and his will to survive So many times, it happened too fast You trade your passion for glory Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive * It's the eye of the tiger It's the thrill of the fight Risin' up to the challenge Of our rival And the last known survivor Stalks his prey in the night And his fortune must always be Eye of the tiger Face to face, out in the heat Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry They stack the odds Still we take to the street Fot the kill with the skill to survive (Repeat *) Risin' up straight to the top Had the guts, got the glory Went the distance Now I'm not gonna stop Just a man and his will to survive (Repeat *) The eye of the tiger (4 times till fade)

Transfunsel 0 Posted January 18, 2002 what brand of cd-rom drive do you use ? is it a cd-r or just a cd-rom ?
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 18, 2002 I don't think there is a list of compatible/incompatible drives anywhere, so I'm not sure this will help. Furthermore, it goes far beyond the drive -- other things that are crucial are the OS, service packs/hotfixes that are applied, applications and drivers etc. I used Windows 2000 Professional SP2 for a long time, and I could play OFP only on one of two bootable partitions on the same machine. One partition was my normal work partition with all my applications, tools, Roxio Easy CD Creator, games etc., and the other only held the minimal OS and the backup software for my tape drive. That way if something went wrong, I could easily restore everything. Anyway, I'm getting off track. My points is that OFP would only reliably run from the plain OS partition. The work partition worked with some versions of OFP, but not others. I would both anticipate and dread upcoming patches, because I was looking forward to bug fixes, but also feared that the next version would once again not recognize the CD. I found myself having to use NoCD hacks even though I have the original CD. All of those problems have disappeared since I installed another drive and put Windows XP on it. I don't have any unusual software on XP yet, and have been able to install V1.00 and all subsequent patches through V1.42 without any problems or corrupted files.
